"Howâd you know about everything in the first place?"
"Well, for starters, I'm from Mercury."
"No, no. If I didnât want to hear about it, why would I have asked? Câmon, use your head, you look like a smart girlââ now enlighten me.â
"Right, sorry. Being out here, studying these creaturesâand plantsâI've been.. driving myself crazy studying them," she took a deep breath, relieving herself from her hesitancy, "I've known some of the information this camp has disclosed before I came here."
"Iâve never tried herbs before, but if you are confident in your knowledge, I wouldnât mind a bit of experimentation before the first aid kit."
"Right. TheâŠthe life I chose to live when I came here. Not that Iâm regretting this, butâŠyou know..itâs rather surprising."
"Okay. I gathered a few the other day, studied what I could. I think we can find something."
"What do you mean?"
"âŠAnd where would I get something like that?" "ThatâsâŠnot nice. Itâs not nice at all. I mean, I suppose I understand it, but I really hope we werenât at that stage ofâ- whatever this is, yet."
"I could try to find a first aid kit. Or we could experiment with some herbs?"
"Yeah, no it's not, but it's life at the moment."
"I was planning on it, actually. But now I donât think itâll be as effective."
"The fuck were weâ- no, the fuck were you talking about? I think I should know, and I probably do, but youâre confusinâ me.â
"I'm sorry... ugh, I mean, we were talking aboutâor I was talking aboutâwhat made me have good and bad feelings about this place. But you probably don't want to hear it, so I'll just, uh, leave you alone or something.."
"Although I am curiousâ- I do believe that I should try to treat it just a tiny bit. I mean, if I die, at least I died trying to prevent something little from getting huge, right?" "Do they even have medication for us?"
"You could at least put some antibiotics and bandage it or somethingâto keep it from getting infected. You said you didn't feel weird so there's nothing to treat, really."
"I don't know. I didn't see any. If they're really trying to rid the weak, then I'd suppose not."

can you pass me the salt pls i canât see straighttt
"Yeah, kind of. Thatâs not horrible, though. You could be worse."
"âŠWhat are we talking about, again?"
"I suppose you're right. Thanks for not totally giving me a questioning look or something."
"We were talking about... actually, it doesn't matter. It wasn't important."
"I couldnât see it very clearly because it was early in the morning, but I believe it was fuzzyâŠso maybe a Kelisian?" "I havenât felt any different, but itâs just starting to bruise."
"Well, I honestly don't know.. but I guess we'll see, yeah?"
"I hope you don't mind that I keep tabs on you. I'd like write all this downâwhat happens when you get bit. Maybe you won't die."
"What do you do if you happened to get bitten by something?"
"Because I think I got bitten by something."
"Depends. What bit you?"

Elodie, are you asleep? I sure as hell am not. I mean, I tried. I think I heard something outside. I almost went out to adventure, but I figured it's not the smartest thing to do right now. Four more hours until daylight..

"Iâd say so. I only had bad feelings when I came hereâ still do, in fact. And look whatâs happened."
"I guess I'm weird, then."
"I mean, I can do without the survival part. I'm just glad people are being told what I've known the past few years. I don't have to feel guilty about keeping things that shouldn't be kept secret."
"At least they have shit eyesight, so running might work in your favor," she mused, "or you could throw shit in front of them." A sacrifice, of sorts. "Yeah, true, maybe the eessa really is out there," she agreed, leaning back against a random tree. "If thereâs one thing Iâm thankful for about this place, itâs for actually revealing to us what the governmentâs been doing. I always knew they were corruptâthereâs no way they were perfect,â she said the word as if it was poison; sheâd lived in conditions the powerful liked to toss aside and deem as rotten, âbut I never knew just how fucked up they were. They were always good at lyingâjust not good enough, apparently.â Her lips curled into a smirk at Artemisâ next remark. âSounds like a real party. I donât see why not, though I havenât heard of anyone actually doing so. With the way these are matched up, Iâm surprised some tents havenât killed each other yet.â
Artemis nodded in agreement to everything Elodie had said about the government. There was no such thing as a genuine utopia. It was just an idea. A thought that the government had managed to instill in [almost] everyone's mind. She chuckled, "I barely know half the people here, so.." she glanced around. "But you're probably right. I bet they did that on purposeâassigning such roommates," Maybe she could find somewhere else to sleep. Possibly just lay underneath the moon, watch for proof of an eessa. "What planet are you from anyways?" she realized that she hadn't asked her the question yet. They'd been caught up in so much more that the idea of small talk never came to mind.
Sometimes youâve got to be able to listen to yourself and be okay with no one else understanding.

â / them eyebrows, drawn in or natural?
Natural. From my dadâs side. Fun fact: My best friend and I met when we were five by her asking me why I had two brown caterpillars on my face. I freaked out, but then I realized they were just my eyebrows. Now just a few weeks ago, I caught her in the bathroom drawing them in like they were ferrets on paper. Smh.
â / do you really know more about the aliens?
