I am deeply disappointed to announce my art was not chosen for the Star Wars Celebration 2019 Art Show. While its not the end of the world, I won't lie to you all... It's very disappointing. Right now it feels like I got punched in the stomach. I'll take it as gracefully as possible, but Star Wars Celebration has meant a lot to me over the last 20 years. I was at Celebration 1, and was one of the first artist for the inaugural Celebration Art show in 2002. I don't want to take anything away from any artists who were chosen, I congratulate them all, and wish the the best. Not that it makes me feel any better, but I see many other veteran artists and important artists to Star Wars were also rejected. I can't help but wonder why so many veteran artists who have been a huge part of Star Wars Celebrations were rejected, and there is still an immature side of me wants to know, but part of moving on is understanding that even if I were able to find out... it doesn't change the fact that I won't be in the Celebration Art Show. Since I was informed, I have been in a whirl of different emotions, but the most surprising is the feeling of relief. Yes, relief. For various reasons, this process is VERY stressful every year and it dominates my focus. It's well worth it, but part of me is in fact relieved that the stress is over now, and I can move on to other plans I was going to hold off until after Celebration. So that's a positive. There are three things that I am most sad about. One, I will miss all the fans, my friends, and fellow artists. Two, Just being a part of this great event is/has always been really special to me. Three, the piece I was going to create, was truly, I feel one of the best pieces I've ever created for Star Wars Celebration...maybe my greatest Star Wars piece period. Its hard when something you really love gets rejected, and now, I don't know If I'll ever complete it. I don't know maybe I'm being dramatic right now. But anyway... sorry for the long dramatic announcement, but this helps, it's therapy for me and we JUST saw Bohemian Rhapsody before I got the rejection email, so I'm probably channeling Freddie Mercury a little right now :) I con (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq_c9ueg9fs/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2n7sovhqf530
