A STEM PhD student who finds stress relief through cross-stitching and pottery (a strange combination, I know)! Some of the things I make are science-related, but not always. I hope others in STEM find this as encouragement to take time for yourself and take a break from research when needed (certainly a tall order sometimes)!

I love these mini national park patterns that I found on Etsy! I finished these four a little while ago (I’m making each one after visiting a park), and I finally had the chance to hang them up this weekend. Leaving space for the next one I’m currently working on! I can’t wait to keep filling this wall up over the years! (trying to stay as positive as possible and believe we’ll still have parks in the next four years, please protect our parks!!)

I had the chance to try raku for the first time! It was so much fun seeing how different every piece looked at the end of firing. The heat is crazy when taking things out of the kiln!

Current WIP! My fiancé plays Astroneer, so I tried making my own pattern of all the snails in the game from the different planets to give as a gift. There are so many colors!! The pattern is also bigger than I realized and is taking SO much longer than I expected. Does anyone out there know of any other Astroneer cross-stitch patterns that I somehow managed to miss on Etsy?

I made a set of mugs for my lab mates and I, so we could have matching office mugs! It was so much fun trying out underglazes with these!

Does anyone else feel like life is just trying to throw as many things as possible at you before the year ends? This was a gift from my mom (she knows me so well <3) and I read it almost everyday for validation.

My favorite mug I’ve made so far! Got caught by a friend walking back with this from a meeting today — their response: “Ah yes, the perfect example of a PhD student! All you need is a laptop and a cup of coffee.”
