Sometimes I can't help but laugh at the shit that is said.
I'm just a guy who knows a fair bit about inequality, has read a few books and taken a few classes. I can almost see why ignorant white people (let's face it; someone trying to add credibility to themselves by saying they're a person of color while on anon is most definitely a white person) would tell me to "grow up" if they think all I'm doing is spewing personal opinion. But it's just simply not. Everything I've said about race is taught in any class that observes social and gender inequalities.
Imagine telling Professor and Associate Dean at University of California at Irvine School of Law Mario Barnes to "grow up".
Imagine telling Professor at the University of Alabama School of Law and Pulitzer Prize nominate Richard Delgado to "grow up".
Imagine telling Professor at Berkeley Law University of California who holds a Masters in history from Washington University, a Masters in public policy from Princeton, and a law degree from Harvard, Ian F. Haney-López to "grow up".
Imagine telling Professor at Columbia Law School and UCLA and regular commentator at MSNBC Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw to "grow up".
Imagine telling Professor at Emory University School of Law Dorothy A. Brown, who's been asked to speak on CNN, Forbes, and the New York Times, to "grow up".
Imagine telling the first tenured Black Professor at Harvard Law and former Dean of the University of Oregon School of Law, one of the originators of Critical Race Theory, Derrick Bell to "grow up".
Best of all, imagine telling world renowned author, social activist, professor for too many schools to name (including Yale), bell hooks, who has achieved more than everyone above combined, to "grow up".
I could go on.
Countless extremely respected and world renowned people have put their life's work into these concepts. And with everything that's been going on recently from Trayvon Martin to Tamir Rice, social media and activism has been directing attention enough so that it's reached people who aren't even looking and simply can't be ignored any longer. This shit is bigger than you and matters more than your hurt feelings and emotional convenience. Just because it's out of your depth of experience and knowledge doesn't make it any less true in the slightest.
