Both admins are both pretty busy (hopefully with the two of us we’ll be able to post semi-regularly) so if anyone wants to be guest writer/artist dm us and we’ll try to get back to you in a timely manner.

Oh wow, how long has it been since our last post? Nearly seven months you say? Well I can say that both mods are in fact alive and well haha. Both of our lives are pretty crazy with us still in school and just other life events, but fear not! We have not forgotten our little ask blog even if we haven’t posted in over half a year 😭

As you may have noticed this response was not the most serious one in the world, trying to keep everything 100% serious and in character has definitely not helped us reach our full creative potential, so with some of our responses we may not try to make it perfect so that we can at least make it something and not leave the ask in our inbox forever simply because we feel like it isn’t perfect. 

Thank you to everyone who stayed with us during our radio silence, I hope in the future we’ll be able to keep up with this blog a little more actively 💜

A letter to Admiral Roland and Excidium! So how have things been now that the war is over and everything has been upended by Laurence and Temeraire? Any difficulties adjusting to the new norms?

“Ahaha! Of course there have been difficulties; we are reworking the entire corps, and the whole of England if Temeraire is to have his way! I do have to deal with the wretched Admiralty more often than I ever imagined when I first made post rank, but now that we are at peace with France, it keeps my days interesting at the very least.”

“Things have improved; I am very proud to have my own rank, and being paid is very nice, as well as being able to leave the coverts if I so wish. Though… I did not mind how things were before; no porridge in sight, and back then Jane did not have to spend nearly as much time shut in-doors with those wretched men from the admiralty as she does now.”

So Temeraire, hows your relationship with Mei? With the war over are there any plans to visit her or invite her over to Britain?

“Things are alright, I suppose. The illegal opium trade has been sore between us, but I’m sure it’ll work out in the end. I would like Mei to come and visit England someday, to see all that there is to love, but it will be a long time coming. I’m afraid Perscitia and I, and all the others, have a lot of work to do before Mei could expect any of the comforts she has in China.”

So Temeraire, now that the war is over are you choosing to settle down with Iskierka or Mei?

Oh- I have not even thought about settling down. Contending with Parliament as well as traditions and conveniences formed over millennia is very frustrating and time consuming, by the end of any day I find myself settling to sleep without having Iskierka or Mei enter my mind at all.

Even if I had the time and peace of mind to choose one, Mei is so very far away in China and while Iskierka is at least stationed in the same country as me, well…. life with her could never be considered “settled down” at all.

No, I have neither time nor desire to settle with either of them now. My tasks in pursuing dragon rights are ever growing and in my few moments of rest my only want is to be with Laurence.

Perhaps settling down with him is what I truly desire.

A question to Temeraire and Laurence. So how has progress been on your DRAGON Rights Act 1813?

It has been slow, dear Anon - Temeraire grows frustrated daily with the House of Lords and their, in his words, “useless dithering over old superstitions.” He has run into particular difficulties around allowing dragons into cities; their infrastructure was not designed with dragons in mind, but now that dragons are to be treated as workers, they must have access to such centers of commerce. Even though the Government is not entirely opposed to allowing dragons to have non-military occupations, they draw a hard line at allowing them into major human settlements. Some have even gone so far to claim it would “destroy all sense of civilization.”

(Temeraire has requested that I add that whenever he brings up Peking, or even the modifications made to Paris, those same people quickly become rather uncomfortable.)

Outdated notions notwithstanding, overhauling every shop, town hall, and road in London would be an expensive feat; even members of the House who are nominally not opposed to advances in dragon rights grow skittish when that particular price tag is brought up. Perscitia is insistent that such modifications would increase the city’s revenue in the long run, on account of the labor dragons provide and the quantities of food they would spend their wages on. However, such calculations are dependent on the idea that commerce will remain steady throughout the renovations and the arrival of dragons. Temeraire is confident that it will, at least in time; and after seeing China’s prosperity, I can hardly disagree, even if I am less sanguine about the average man’s capacity to become accustomed overnight to house-sized creatures walking about the streets.

It will be a long and arduous road to the future Temeraire so dearly wishes for; let it never be said that progress is easily won. Every inch we have gained is hard fought, but there is no fight more worth the undertaking than this one.

Dear Azura,

I love to read (mostly fiction) and exercise my creative writing skills (either with fanfiction or with my own stories)! I also occasionally like to draw, though anymore I only do it when I’m making someone a card. Obsessed with Temeraire, of course - this series has held me hostage for…years now, lol. Sadly, my abundance of schoolwork and my YouTube addiction both take up a lot of the time I’d normally use for hobbies. Currently trying to get better about that - finish my work earlier, spend less time on the internet, etc. I thought helping run the blog would be a great way to do creative stuff more often!

omg hi Azura!

Hahah, I feel like hobbies are such hard thing, what's a hobby and what's something I just enjoy doing, y'know? I can say that I’m always drawing and planning a new project or some interesting thing. Dragons have really retaken claim over my heart so I love to draw them the most at the moment, and of course that’s how I got into Temeraire! I also like playing minecraft so there's that too I guess ahaha.
