Who would you consider your best friend?
Now that I'm an adult again? Probably Emma. I guess Sammy Thurman and I were a gruesome twosome last week when I was in grade three, but I don't see as we've got much in common anymore.

Who would you consider your best friend?

Who is your hero?
Lt. Commander Data. But then, if he were real, it'd probably be a mutual admiration society.
Who or what inspires you?
Long motorcycle rides in the countryside. I don't think I can keep track of the number of ideas that come to me when I'm alone on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere.
If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be and why?
Please. I'm having a hard enough time just being me full time; I'd never get the hang of being someone new in just one day.
Do you believe in soulmates? In true love?
Sure, why not? There's plenty of stuff out there I haven't experienced yet.
Are you close with your family?
I was when I went back to being the boy. We haven't really had time to talk since I... grew up again. I guess that's coming.
Who are three people you are closest with?
Papa, Archie, and Emma.
What would you do if you found out you were adopted?
I think you could argue that I am. I mean, I wasn't born in the conventional sense, but Papa wanted a son so badly he made it happen, even if it wasn't biological. That's one way to define adoption, right? So, I guess I'd pretty much do what I did do. (Sorry, Papa!)
What would you do if your parents didn't like your partner?
Uh... I'm kind of old enough to make my own decisions. That being said, Papa's a better judge of character than a lot of other people I know, so if he really didn't like whoever I brought home, I want to think I'd at least consider his objections before I decided whether to dismiss them.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done for love?
I... decided to stop bumming around Thailand and settle in Phuket. Sometimes, I wonder how Isra's doing now.
When was the last time you had a gut feeling about something that turned out to be correct? How about a time your gut feeling was wrong?
My gut feelings are always wrong. Or indigestion. So, okay, maybe I get gut feelings that I shouldn't have had all those spicy meats on my pizza and those are accurate, but that's about it.
What would you do if one day you woke up and every person was just gone without a trace?
Well, if they'd left their things behind, I'd wait a reasonable amount of time for them to return and then... I guess I'd probably start taking and using stuff. I mean, if they're not coming back, it's all going to go to waste, right?
If you had magic, what would you do with it?
I was carved from an enchanted tree. You could argue I've always had it. I just can't do anything with it.
What or who do you think is your happy ending?
The problem with an ending is that once you get there, it's over. I think my happy ending is living a good life until I move on in my sleep. Might involve other people, might not. Might be writing a novel that wins the Nobel Prize for literature or just writing a piece in some obscure anthology that resonates enough with some reader that they write to tell me they loved it. The motorcycle, the carpentry, the bumming around the world... it's all details, but not one is absolutely necessary. At the end of the day, it's whatever keeps me grounded and feeling good in my skin.
Which parent are you closer to and why?
I only have one parent, so that'd be my father.
What qualities do you admire about your parents?
It's just my father, but he's the most self-effacing, hard-working, industrious, warm-hearted soul you could ever be so fortunate to meet.
Have you ever lost someone close to you?
My father. But after more than twenty-eight years, I got him back.
