Eduardo raised their eyebrows at what the young fae said. “That’s awfully bleak for someone your age.” They commented. “Are you doing this on purpose?” They looked at the ground below them again. “Not that it’s a bad thing, I’m just curious. It’s been a long time since I witnessed another fae doing this.”
.
Astrid was delighted to see them intrigued. She could talk for hours on end, it was a great distraction. “At first it was on purpose, then it wasn’t. Well, I can control it if i want to, but i guess i just don’t want to. If that makes any sense.” Eventually her eyes caught her very own ground mural again. “I am not proud of it, you know.” She said staring vacantly without showing any emotion. After a moment of silence she put on a smile once more and turned her eyes back to them. “I wish I didn’t have to do this. It is not very pretty, leaving a trail of dead grass behind. Bringing death to wherever I go makes me feel like a Disney villain sometimes.” She giggled. “But it is what it is.”
Taner sighed. He didn’t want to be taking this stupid class, he already knew everything about being a fae. He would have been fine with it all if he didn’t have to do group work, too. When the professor called his name along with another students, he didn’t know what to do.
After class, he approached her. “So, seems like you got stuck with me.” He extended his hand. “I’m Taner and I don’t want to be here.” He replied sarcastically. “Nice to meet you, Astrid.”
Astrid was packing her stuff when she saw the man approaching. She felt relieved for she had no idea who her work partner was, being new in school, she only got to meet a few people so far. “And you got stuck with me. you are lucky for that, if it is going to be any consolation.” Astrid said as she put on her backpack. “Well, except for the part that i have no clue of what that class was all about, but that shouldn’t be so hard to figure out, we have all these books ‘n stuff.” Seeing the extended hand she shook it gladly. “Nice to meet you too Taner, aren’t you just a ray of sunshine.” She said imitating his sarcasm.
At first, they were puzzled when the grass under their feet seemed to be dying but upon closer inspection, they knew exactly what was happening, there was a fae around here, a very unhappy fae it seemed. They followed the grass right over to a young woman, at first they kept their distance a bit to watch but she reminded them of their daughters and tried to approach casually. “Was this you?” They gestured to the ground. @astridronningen
“That’s alright... that’s fine... that’s just how life is.” Astrid was pacing while reassuring herself constantly. This would happen every once in a while, whenever she got bad news. And this time it was exceptionally worse. The voice startled her but she was quick to reply. “Ah yes, it happens. It is inevitable for every living thing. Starts with nothing and ends with nothing. We should be grateful for what is in between.” She said without showing any signs of sorrow. Only now realizing the destruction she caused, she was indifferent to it. After all it was some grass for her sanity.

STORY
Born to fae parents, Astrid had a pretty normal childhood except for a few small details like she could move things with her mind power. She was aware something was different with them but her parents tried their best to not to make her feel alienated in the world she was living in.
Working as a private detective, her mother was a master soul reader who used her powers to catch criminals. She was too good at her job that it eventually became their doom.
On a beautiful sunday evening, the family of 3 were on their way to home from a picnic, then a bang and everything went dark. She doesn’t have any memory of crawling out of the car to save her life. Next thing, she woke up lying in the field, instead of lush greens everything around her in a 10 meter radius was withered. She wasn’t feeling any pain. That was until she saw whatever was left of the car and found out her parents’ fate. Followed by a scream, she fell on all fours and did her thing again. She transferred the life energy around her to herself until she didn’t feel any pain, anything at all.
The police never found any evidence except for the papers in the crime scene written in latin.
After her parents’ death, her uncle, whom she never met before took her in. She stayed there with his family in the states, until she left for college.
After figuring her power out, she started abusing it, using it to eliminate any discomfort and always keeping her cheery disposition. To this day, she still doesn’t have a better coping mechanism and uses her power to avoid pain.
STUFF (??)
She wears a pendant with a protection spell in it that her parents made for her, at all times.
Ever since she left home, she is penpals with one of her childhood friends, and receives postcards of her hometown regularly.
She suspects she used her parents’ life energy to survive the car crash, but she prefers not to think about it.
You can tell she is having a bad day, by the grass she stepped on withering.
Once she almost killed an ex accidentally when she found out he was cheating on her. She ended up transferring to another school.
