WHAT IS ASTROLOGY
Astrology is the study of how the positions and movements of celestial bodies—such as planets, stars, the sun, and the moon—are thought to influence human behavior, personality traits, and life events. Practitioners of astrology, called astrologers, use the concept of a birth chart or horoscope to interpret the positions of these bodies at the exact time and location of a person’s birth, believing it can reveal insights about their character, strengths, weaknesses, and potential life path.
Key Components of Astrology:
Zodiac Signs: Divided into twelve signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc.), each associated with specific personality traits. These signs are based on the position of the sun at a person’s time of birth.
Planets and Houses: Each planet (like Mars, Venus, or Mercury) represents different aspects of life, such as love, communication, and action. The 12 houses in a birth chart signify different life areas like career, relationships, and family.
Aspects: The angles between planets, called aspects, are believed to influence how they interact with each other, often adding complexity to an individual’s birth chart.
Astrology is an ancient practice, with roots in various cultures, including ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Greek, and Indian traditions. Although not scientifically supported, astrology remains popular as a way for people to explore their identities, relationships, and make sense of life’s events.
