As a kid, our house had a lot of north-facing windows, so I got to stay up at night and watch storms roll in. Tonight I got to experience something much cooler. This storm was moving northeast with some really intense lightning, and the wind was flowing along with it, making a really interesting low hum as it crossed the powerlines. I was trying out different framing and it started to get dark, and the stars came out. I stood there taking 20 to 30 second exposures and looking up at the stars. It was pretty surreal to sit there watching both the storm with its lightning moving by, the wind in the power lines, and satellites moving in orbit framed by the Orion constellation and the faint outline of the nebula. What a spectacular moment.
Get lost.
