These are the rules and guidelines for this site. Please make sure that you abide by them at all times.
We are an 18+ board with a 3/3/3 rating on JCINK Premium. For these reasons, only players over the age of eighteen (18) are allowed to join. Please be respectful, both of players and characters. Bullying, bigotry, phobic comments; all of that nonsense is not welcome here in any form.
We are a BDSM-themed site, and there will be a lot of kinky things happening between characters. However, we are not Tinder, Grindr, Fetlife, Collarspace, etc. Please do not use this site as a 'hook-up space.' If we notice you are using this site or the Discord to search for a partner or hook-up, we will ask you to leave. In that vein, players are not their characters, and this should always be kept in mind. Just because someone plays a domme, sub, bunny, gimp, etc. on the site, does not mean they are one in real life. Please do not assume things about players based on their characters.
Staff are not going to act as gatekeepers. You can write whatever delicious plots you like, so long as their themes are not illegal. Any plots that employ activities that would be considered illegal in the United States (pedophilia, bestiality, vore, rape, etc.) will be shut down without warning, and players may be removed from the site.
On the subject of rape plots: BDSM operates on a consensual basis, and we do not encourage the narrative that "non-con" is sexy or should be taken lightly. We will not stop any consensual "non-con" dynamics/plots, but they will be monitored closely by staff and need to be extensively content warned. If you have any questions about this, please talk to staff. Additionally, we do not condone or support the playing of Gorean Slavery on this site.
There is no 'warning system' on Atheos. If your behavior is causing issues and not improving after staff have spoken to you, we will ask you to leave. Our community's comfort is our number one priority.
We will be able to tell if you have not read the essential info, so please do it. We don't expect anyone to know it all, so please just ask. We have several resources available if you're unsure or too shy to use Google, including BDSM 101 and the Ask a Dominant/Ask a Submissive channels in our discord.
Registration and Activity
We are an account-per-character site, but please DO NOT register an OOC account. They are for staff to keep things clear.
Register your character's name (First Letter) as you want them known on the site. We don't require you to use any specific case as the board converts it, but please note that any name more than 30 characters will stretch things on the board. Duplicate first names are allowed, however, please put somewhere in your app if you're duplicating a surname, indicating if there's a relation or not.
Please remember this is an 18+ site, and this fact is enforced. Anyone caught on the site who is under 18 will be removed.
Limits are vital on a site like this. As such, we ask that all players make their limits known in the appropriate profile area and that other players read this information before suggesting plots or creating threads. Anyone caught deliberately trying to force triggering material on another player will be removed.
Please also discuss threads/character creation before writing with someone; communication is key. Random, unsolicited smut threads, random character creation without discussion, springing smut on people in an otherwise not smut thread, and similar non-communicative behavior will not be tolerated.
You have ten (10) days to complete a character from registration or the account will be archived. Please remember to tag in the appropriate Discord channel so staff can review your app.
Activity checks on Atheos are informal. Once a week - generally Sundays - the Dungeon Masters will go through and check to see which accounts haven't posted in over 30 days. Any accounts over this mark will be set to inactive. Members on an absence or who have spoken to the staff about other arrangements are exempt from these rounds. Once the check is complete, all wanted ads and shippers for the inactive characters will be sorted to the inactive member archives. Inactive accounts will be required to reply to one existing thread or create a non "open" thread (i.e. a thread intended for another person on the site) before being sorted back from their inactive status. There are NO 'threaded' activity checks and nothing will ever be deleted.
DoHTML is enabled across all IC areas. There are various built-in BBCode templates available for posting and simple tasks that fit with the theme of the board. However, NO offsite templates are permitted. There is a large bank of codes unique to this site available for players to use. If there is a code you would like that is not available, you can request it to be created and added to the bank. If an offsite template is used it will be removed and replaced with a BBCode template. Use of site codes is not negotiable.
Make as many characters as you personally can handle. However, we will ask that once a character is accepted that you show some activity on the character before you apply for another one. We don’t require any sort of minimum post count or anything, if you want to make five characters at once that’s great, but we will put your character creation on hold until we can see you actively using them. Just creating characters and doing nothing with them will not be tolerated.
We have no word count, no post-matching rules, etc. Post whatever you feel fits the thread at that moment. All we ask is that you give your partners something to work with and proofread your posts for appropriate spelling and grammar.
No god-modding/power-playing/meta-gaming, yadda yadda you know the drill.
Please mark all threads containing mature content as follows at the BEGINNING of the thread title, and use the combinations of the above tags as needed for the content of a thread:

We require posts to be in third-person past tense. Apps, however, can be written in any tense.
If you are aware that your thread may need a content warning, please tag the thread and use the custom BBCode called WARNING at the top of your first post in the thread. If your thread started out fine and then took a dark turn, please go back and add the tags to the thread title and if needed, let people know where the dark turn starts. The Staff reserve the right to make these changes if they need to. If any player sees a thread they think needs a tag, please poke a staff member.
All characters must be 18 years of age or older. However, all face claims must be 19 years of age or older.
Faces must be signed or managed, aka, they must be making money off their image. Instagram models, Youtubers, Suicide Girls, etc. are fine, so long as they have representation. You may use porn stars if you wish, however, all images used on the site must be safe for work.
We do not allow any pornographic or nude images anywhere except in the development forums. This is because some members log in from work and can get fired for such images. Please also note we do have a list of banned faces in the face claim area so take note of that when you reserve a face.
Signatures are disabled; we have a large profile image instead.
The large profile image is any square image 500x500px or larger and the avatar is 250×400px. These images are included in the profile.
The GIF is any (preferably) square GIF 200px or larger uploaded to the avatar area. You cannot use a GIF from a third party hosting, you have to upload the image to the board itself.
