Every time you get a new material to burn/cut on a laser you need to test it out and see how it will respond and calibrate your settings.
This includes figuring out how much power to apply, how fast to move the laser head, how many Lines Per Inch to use, and how many overlapping passes to make. You really should redo these tests with every batch of material you get even if its from the same supplier since you don’t know what they may have changed (glue type used in plywood, etc).
I’m testing out some 1/2″ Birch plywood here.
Sometimes you forget to pay attention to your settings before running the job and run the laser head at 1/10th the speed you wanted and burn holes in your piece. Luckily nothing caught on fire this time.
