Tommy woke up with a shocked gasp, the shouting in his ear pulling him from his sleep.
As Tommy blinked away the sleep in his eyes, he noticed that the screeching came from a small person resting on his chest.
“Adam” A voice tutted from the doorway, and when Tommy turned his head, he spotted (Y/N), his wife, with a tray in her hands and an amused but exasperated look on her face, “When I told you to wake up your father, I didn’t mean scream at him.”
Adam just cheekily smiled at his mother before returning to face his father, his smile growing wider as he reached over and took Tommy’s face in between his small chubby hands,
“Yeah, I hear you.” Tommy croaked out, his throat dry as he pulled Adam closer to him and shifted so that he sat up on the bed, “What’s got you so excited this morning eh?”
Adam’s chirpy reply of ‘brek-fas’ made him look back at his wife and sure enough, (Y/N) was stood near the bed with the tray full of breakfast items,
“Breakfast in bed? What the occasion?” He asked as he shifted so that (Y/N) can have space to sit down, Adam’s arms tightly secured around his neck as he did so.
This time the tut was directed at him, “It’s your birthday today, Thomas.”
Tommy paused as he took (Y/N)’s words in, slightly in shock. He never did care for his birthday or any other holidays but when he got married and then later became a father, that changed. Whilst he still didn’t exactly care for his birthday, he knew his wife and by extension, his son, did. (Y/N) telling him it’s a day for her to spoil him and for him to relax and take a day off, when he asked her years ago and when he told her ‘Thomas Shelby doesn’t take days off’ all she did was laugh at him, making him fall further in love with her.
Tommy simply smiled her and pulled her into a quick kiss, hoping that she didn’t realise that he had forgotten, he murmured a quick thank you as he pulled the tray closer to him.
“Baby, come sit with mama whilst papa eats.” (Y/N) reached over and pulled Adam into her lap, ignoring his whines of complaint which were gone as soon as they arrived once he got comfortable in his mother’s lap.
“Tasty?” She asked, a small smile on her face when he nodded, she rarely saw Tommy eat breakfast so the sight of him doing so makes her happy.
“Papa ah” Adam lent forward; his mouth open as he asked his father for a bit of the egg that was on his plate and Tommy complied, placing a small piece of egg in his mouth,
“Have you not eaten yet?” He asked, concerned for his family.
(Y/N) laughed, brushing back Adam’s curly black locks, “We have. We ate before we made you breakfast but the way he’s acting you wouldn’t believe it.”
Tommy had given up trying to feed himself, the rest of the food from his plate going into Adam’s mouth. “You cooked?”
“Gave the staff the day off. The house is ours for the day.” (Y/N) grinned at Tommy.
Adam let out a large sigh before Tommy could reply, his little body slumping back into his mother’s arms,
“You done?” (Y/N) asked, laughter in her voice as she gently patted her son’s belly, the little boy nodded making both of his parents laugh out loud, (Y/N)’s growing louder after she spots her sons messy face.
“C’mon you!” She says as she pulls Adam into her arms before she pushes herself off the bed and makes her way to the bathroom that was connected to the master bedroom, “Let’s go clean your face.”
As Adam’s indignant ‘mama’s’ rang loudly from the bathroom, Tommy couldn’t help the smile that came over his face, he didn’t know what he did to deserve them but he wouldn’t trade them for the world and he would spend every minute of his life making sure that they’re safe and happy. They were his world.
