This is my quarantine zone sideblog for posts relating to Harusono Shou's body of work. Created because the alternative (me sending constant feverish rants to my friend who only saw like three episodes of the sasamiya anime) felt inadvisable

The primary target audience for this blog is me. Present and future. I want to be able to catalog and look back on all my thoughts related to her work and the posts I enjoy that are related to it. I will be really annoying and that's a promise. The secondary target audience for this blog is anyone else that likes her stuff! Love and peace on planet manga. I don't mind messages/asks at all, but I might be slow to answer them. :)

I have like three whole adjectives in my vocabulary. See if you can spot them all. Also I tend to reblog older posts a lot; if I reblog something that you'd rather leave forgotten, tell me and I'll delete it! No hard feelings. Also also, most of my posts are queued way in advance.

i feel like there's a lot to masaomi we the audience don't really know of b/c we only see him through the eyes of his little brother whom he subtextually wants to appear strong-willed and cheerful around. minimizing the mental burden for someone he cares about. And said brother's friends, wanting to seem like a responsible adult. Makes the fact that little brother Jirou seemingly knows of PillbugMasaomi despite this more intriguing to me

Thinking more about Miso soup and i need to ask what the rest of the cast thinks (in ur eyes). How does hirano and kagi and niibashi and ogasawara and eimi and makimura and fuck it MUROI how do all of them feel about miso soup.

hhhhhmmmm well i fear im not such an expert on many other characters... and the miso soup thing is so tashiro-specific to me that its tough to relate it to everyone else. plus its not about the Soup its about the. like. metaphor... which i suppose is what youre asking. so the soup metaphor basically boils down to Would you like to live in a romantic situation where someone tends to your needs with a familial-type love. type shit. (or you tend to the others needs etc etc. a very Domestic situation). And i think there is also something in the way one's family was growing up. tashiro doesn't relate the familial-romantic love to his actual family bc he's got a kinda strange situation. or something. this isnt about him Anyways.

we already get miyanos and kuresawas views on it - miyano would like to be the one making the soup/taking care of someone. kuresawa really likes the domestic vibes of it. this all checks out Especially miyano. petri dish boy. sasaki would similarly understand it and probably also wants to be the one to take care of miyano but he would also let miyano do it. yuki would loooove to take care of tasuku but i think kuresawa ends up being the main one more often.

kagihira 1000000% straight up do the miso soup thing. they are cooking for each other aaalll the time. and taking care of each other. kagi has always modeled his love after his family so Yeah. domesticity city. i do think hirano would be similarly confused if he heard the metaphor but i think if he looked it up or had it explained he would think about kagi and be like Oh yeah.

ogaeimi for sure subscribe to it... eimi definitely knows what it means (fujoshi) and i think ogasawara unknowingly says stuff like "i'll cook for you" and it makes her blush. and ogasawara would get it if he heard it. ogasawara serious love language of making food for people.

hanzawa would understand it on a logical level and i thiiink he would on some levels like that kind of situation but would neeeever be able to ask for it. its a pipe dream. i fear he lives alone for a long time. and gets weird about it when people do things for him. not that he'd ever tell. and on the family side of it--while his family seems to eat together it seems kind of. distant ? idk. i think he doesn't want to mimic his family.

ichinose... im not very into his head yet so anybody feel free to correct me here. i think he yearns bad for a miso soup situation. if dorm manager yanagimoto ever made him something to eat personally hed eat so much hed get sick anyways. buuut he'd like. he says he wont get over yanagimoto for like 10 years or whatever so its like. similar to hanzawa he wouldnt be caught dead asking for more. and theres also some interest on the family side of it for him - i dont think he's particularly close with his parents (i dont remember how canon that is...?) so like. a meal made with love definitely gets to him. cause i dont think he's particularly used to it. or something.

shirahama dreams of asking a girl to make miso soup for him like in his dating games. but whatever relationship he gets into i think he ends up being the metaphorical miso soup maker most of the time. cause of his cringe but noble soul. but he critically doesn't really realize hes the one doing it.

okay i think thats everyone major. i dont think we know enough about many others to make good guesses here... maybe makimura would end up being taken care of in some way. little miss 100 portraits project. muroi... dont know enough about him... ugawa and akikawa... they definitely know the phrase but probably dont necessarily relate to it...? idk. whatever. i think thats everyone. i really didnt mean to write so much but here we are.... peace and love Oh Shit niibashi. he would certainly be Good at the domestic type thing but i dont think he'd actually be very good at Living with people. so he ultimately doesnt really care about miso soup. okay peace and love for real now.

really really good tags from booksandberries theyre getting added. thats precisely it.... really love the analogy of coffee like Yeah. thats a part of it i hadnt been able to find the words for... like miso is supposed to be a very Common thing. something Easy but can be really elevated if made with care/with your preferences. and yeah morning coffee i feel is a perfect analogy for that. and some people !! dont even like coffee.... entirely different can of worms metaphor . also fits really well with I make it for my parents sometimes but only cause they ask me to. really really stellar analogy cant commend it enough...

sasaki piercings -> ennui and boredom. he got them just because. better than feeling nothing. even after consciously choosing to become a gentle person, he's still wearing them like a brand. he's aware of how Other of a person he is, but is too tired to really care. It's a pain to hide, isn't it?

hanzawa piercings -> anger and frustration and hopelessness!!!!! the tug-of-war between wanting to exert your own autonomy and be your own person v.s. remembering that you have a part to play. he carefully and systematically hides it just out of sight to avoid confrontation. getting mad is pointless, isn't it?

hirano piercings -> aren't they awesome? hirano is someone who's driven and self-assured enough to accomplish what he sets out to do, other people be damned. this includes indulging in his weird, flashy sense of style.

kuresawa piercings -> gentle admiration and passion. He wants to emulate someone he admires, especially in how driven they are to get what they want. and they're cool, of course.

ogasawara piercings -> cosmically predetermined so his girlfriend could more effectively torment him with yaoi
