“You got to take precautions, sadly, with such an open kid these days.” Knowing those very struggles himself. “I wouldn’t change her friendly sunshine for the world so I’m happy to be that protective barrier for her. It does help I’m at an advantage with one of my brothers and sisters living here, too. You know the saying, ‘it takes a village’? I firmly stand by that belief.” He nodded after a gesture that helped affirm it. “Doesn’t it? I wasn’t insanely crazy– Always wanted a family and all that but I did enjoy my youth, shall we say?” His head tilted with a cheeky grin. “Questioning or not, you can’t deny it always entertains and keeps you on your toes.”

“Yeah, it’s just too crazy anymore to not take precautions. I probably annoy her dad because I can be overprotective to where he probably just wants to ignore me,” she shrugged. “Yeah, at least I have Logan, but I only have my parents here in the States. Everyone else is off the other side of the world. But it really does take a village. I rely on a lot of people to help me out, even if it’s just to talk to an adult after being around a toddler all the time.” The Israeli smiled as she watched his smile, shaking her head. “I actually didn’t think I would be a good mom. So I never wanted kids, never thought about kids. Then I got pregnant and thought that I could maybe be a decent mom,” she admitted, making sure her daughter wasn’t around when she said something of the sort. “Oh, always. And with the repeat everything you say stage, I feel like I always have to keep myself from saying anything bad.”

“Oh, totally. Now to make sure it does make it to America before Chanukah, even though this year, it doesn’t start until the evening of December 22nd, you still want to be prepared.” 

“Yeah, thankfully it starts later this year than normal. Gives me more time to figure out what to do. I’m gonna ask my grandma and then buy a backup in case that doesn’t come in. Then I’m prepared.”

“That’s awesome, something like other family normalcy for her.” Coparenting can be hard, putting whatever behind you for a day though, thats great. “I think with the air of confidence you have some people might think you actually are her.” Andrew chuckled. “Alright, so another idea I hear you. Still DC you could be from suicide squad? They’re a villain for you but also the good guy of their own movie.”

“Yeah. We get along for the most part. We have similar personalities, so we butt heads at times, but we usually get along,” she smiled softly as she ran a hand through her hair. “I mean, I kind of am a wonder woman anyway. I’m a mom and I am a doctor in the ER. That’s a handful as it is.” Aviva paused for a moment as she furrowed her brow. “Okay, don’t judge me, but who is in Suicide Squad besides the obvious Joker and Harley?”

  “Sounds like there is never a dull moment when you have a toddler,” he replied smiling. “Hey, it’s not stupid but I totally understand. It would be hard to replace and get just any other one.”

“That’s one way to say it. Life isn’t boring with a toddler. She is pretty much a mini version of her dad and I to where it terrifies me,” Via shrugged with a smile. “Yeah, and I want to go there for Hanukkah, but I don’t know if she would be good on a flight to Tel Aviv.”

“Are those hard to find?” Xy asked curiously, her question sounding quite ignorant though she was genuinely interested in the answer. “Christmas Tress and Bibles and little Baby Jesus’ are insanely easy to find in the next coming months but I would expect the same with Menorah’s.”

“They aren’t as easy to find like Christmas things, but they aren’t terribly hard. It’s just hard to pick one that you want to use since that’s something that will be shown for the eight days and eight nights,” she shrugged as she thought for a moment. “I honestly might try and hope that my grandmother sends me one in time from Israel and then just have one that I found here as a backup in case.”

“Yeah with the heroes.” A slip of the little word ‘dick’ was of little consequence to him. Looking to their girl who’s hair he tousled. “Every guy has one, she’s learnin’ anatomy.” His excuse made just to be difficult. “Ya didn’t even want to be in the Justice League in the first place is why~.”

“You get on my nerves sometimes. I hope you know that,” she gave a roll of her eyes as he spoke. “She’s two. She can learn anatomy when she’s old enough to understand it and not repeat every single word you say like she does now. I don’t need the daycare to call me because she said that,” she pointed at him in a motherly manner. “I didn’t even know who was in the Justice League off the top of my head. Kind of thinking of Batgirl now, though.”

Niko nodded in understanding. “Shit, when you find it somewhere like that, that does make it a lot more difficult to get anything good. Hopefully your grandad can send you one, even for as wonderful as New York is, I’m not sure there’s anybody as worthy of blessing it as your grandmother, right? That’s special.”

“Yeah, it was special to me because of that. I would go to Israel for the holiday, but I don’t know if my daughter can handle such a long flight yet or not. She’s almost three, but I don’t know if it would be too much for her, so I’ll just need to hope they can send it to me in time.”

Lakyn listened to the other, not necessarily knowing how to help with not being Jewish “i’m sorry hun, where did you find the last one? maybe we could find a store or area similar to that vibe and we’ll be able to find one. or, if 90′s tv taught me anything, Queens might be the place to look, we could try to find an estate sale or something?” she offered with a small shrug, she wasn’t really sure the protocols for something like this “i could buy you a coffee or something to help turn your day around?”

“I got the last one at a market in Tel Aviv. So not really an easy access at the moment,” she sighed, running a hand through her hair. “I didn’t really think about estate sales. But it took so long to find one that’s fitting and now I have to find a new one. I know that it’s not Nay’s fault cause she’s a toddler, but it sucks.”

“Thats the magic of the Internet, babe. Go on that craft fair sight that those indie hipsters nerds are always talking about. I’m sure you could find some sort of cool menorah thing that’s to your liking.”

“My last menorah was from Israel, so the flea markets here aren’t really the same. Sadly, anyway. I might look, but I don’t think anything will compare.”

“Probably wrapped up in some protective wrapping. Though, I imagine with the shipping weight, it would cost a fortune to ship from Israel,” said Hodaya, “Well, things happen.”  

“Yeah, but I’m willing to pay the price to get another one,” the woman nodded. “It sucks, but what can you do,”

Niko made a sympathetic face, shaking his head. “Sorry to hear that, I know how hard meaningful things like that can be to replace. Did you find your last one someplace special? Maybe that would be a good place to start.”

“I found it in Israel. One of the tiny markets there. I can’t really go there right now because I can’t take off, so I’m hoping my grandmother can send me one in time,” she pushed her lips to the side in thought. “New York would probably have some special ones, but my grandmother likes to bless them before she gives it to me.”

“For just you or the two of you? Wonder woman would be good, you even look a little like her.” Of course it was on the nose and she probably already knew that but he tried to help. Flash for her girl maybe, kids are fast and full of energy. “Awesome they’ll be plenty of superhero gear any store we go to.”

“We’re not together, but we do a family theme just for our daughter. Then she has both of us and it’s about her and nothing else,” she smiled softly as she nodded. “I have been told that before, actually. If only I had her power. Actually that’s who my daughter will be. I think her dad will be Aquaman and I need to find a costume in that side of the superhero world, even though I rather be a villain. They are so much more fun. Hopefully they do have something. I need all the help I can get.”

“Ugh yeah. I would be gutted if my menorah broke, because my soon-to-be sister in law got it for me last year. She got it at a Judaica shop in London and it’s absolutely beautiful,” said Hodaya, “I don’t think I’ll find the same one in Brooklyn or Queens.”

“I asked my grandma in Israel to mail me one, but I don’t really know how that would do in the mail. I got my last one when I went there to visit family and I know I would never find anything like that here. And it obviously wasn’t her fault because she’s only two. She doesn’t really know that well at the moment.”

  “I am so sorry to hear that,” he replied as he listened to the other. “I think I know someone with a shop that can help you find a new menorah. I can give you their number if you want.”

“Life with a toddler, I guess,” she gave a small sigh, pushing her lips to the side. “Um, yeah, we can see. I mean, this sounds really stupid, but that one was from Israel, so it just sucks I can’t get one from there right now.”

“Sounds like you, huh, Pen?” The little girl could definitely be a talker with any and everyone that would listen. Sometimes she was too friendly for Evan to keep from worrying but he was exactly the same as a child. At least she got it honest. Evan gave an ‘oof’ to what was no doubt a plight to see the realization of her dream. Letting his girl end the list of family members before he spoke again. “Very big loud Irish type of family. We’re all very close, too. Thankfully, it wasn’t a rive but a flight that took us all down there or I might’ve gone insane, love them as I might. Naomi’s going to love it, though. Penny, I’m sure you can fill her in on all the cool stuff.” Wanting the girls to get some sort of comradery going on. “Zooes weren’t your first choice, really? I– Okay, not mine either.” He admitted with a guilty shrug. “Everything is more fun experiencing it through your own kid’s eyes though.”

“She gets me a little worried at times. A little too friendly and she’s still a tad young for the whole stranger danger teaching. I try to keep her close and that’s the best I can do until she’s old enough for that teaching. She turns three next month, so I think I’ll slowly do that.” A part of her couldn’t believe that her daughter was turning three. It felt like yesterday Naomi was born. Almost made her tear up. “We’re pretty small family. I’m the only child, but I have a decent amount of cousins. They are all in Israel, though. Yeah, I would definitely fly. I would go crazy driving that much,” she smiled as she watched the two girls interact. “I was going to ask. I honestly didn’t even think of going to the zoo until I had her. I was kind of a wild person before her. I mean, she was created by a one night stand, if that says anything.” A smile formed as she nodded. “Everything changes. This sounds crazy, but I feel like I couldn’t imagine life before her. And it’s amazing to see things her way. Although, some things, I question, but it’s amazing.”
