A girlfriend and I go every month to a 24 hour Korean Spa in the suburbs called King Spa. Don’t get me wrong, it’s only $20 to enter, and you sit in hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, infrared rooms, gold rooms, charcoal rooms, amethyst rooms, oxygen rooms, and on and on, and you just sit. The women wear all pink cotton uniforms, and the men, all blue. They wave around signs that say “quiet please,” so there’s not much chatter, but it’s actually the loudest I ever think when I’m there. @cookiesandart has been showing me books on optical illusions, pulling up images online of work from Escher, Dr Suess, Dali. I talk to him about how I want to try to paint for once, paint things I CAN’T see in the world for once, and he encourages me to feel uncomfortable. Two weeks ago at King Spa I stared at the ceiling and the complexity in the woodwork and got dressed in the locker room telling @jwinston714 how I couldn’t wait to get to a pad of paper. Well here ya go girl, here ya go world, I have a feeling this is just the beginning. #surrealism #surreal #surrealart #surrealist #painting #art #artist #pastel #trippy #opticalillustion #architecture #architecturelovers #architectureporn (at Chicago, Illinois)
