Picked up a new rig for the wife
Roasting prickly pear cactus pads (nopalitos) to go with dinner. I hear a lot of people compare them to okra but I think they have a mild green chili flavor.
My "last ditch" kit. This stays on or near me at all times when I'm out in the sticks and most of the time when I'm in civilization. MOLLE pouch with fire kit, flashlight, knife, awl, 20'of light cordage, tomahawk head, a few first aid items, and a life straw. Most of this is emergency equipment redundant to what I keep in my pack.

The khukuri fills a niche between your average sheath knife and a small axe or tomahawk. I’m really pleased with its performance thus far. It doesn’t take the place of having a light axe and belt knife completely but could be pressed into service in place of either in an emergency.
Driving the Senator Highway through the Bradshaw mountains of Arizona. Roads like this make me glad I have emergency supplies in the truck.

Whiskey or Scotch tonight?
I have to confess to some jealousy when I see shelters made from nice straight logs with pine bow beds. I love the desert but building a shelter out here can be tricky.
Found this pretty far back in the woods, I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation but I wasn't going down there either way
