Inspired by Wilfried Hou Je Bek’s chapter about the estetic of LOOP I’ve realized a simple program that loops a text on the x axis of the screen. For each ripetition there is also another loop that duplicates that text on the y axis as well. To do so I’ve set the conditional FOR that gives the instruction to duplicate a certain object in a certain space with a fixed distance. Inside the first FOR conditional I’ve then inserted another FOR conditional that loops again that object for any ripetion previously set.
LOOP by Wilfried Hou Je Bek
In this text the author goes deep into the abstract meaning of Loop defining it as a pattern that executes part of the pattern automatically. It is not a single entity but it's complex and formed of a chain of elements such as iterators, GO TO statements and so on.
The problems comes up when we want understand the real structure of the loop because nobody still has invented anything that make us understand the circularity produced by a machine
The loop is a continuum of abstractions and once it starts it become infinite.
It is like a loop inside another and is defined by the absence of interruption and can diverge in two branches: iteration, where a collection of instruction is merely repeated and recursion, where each stage of the execution is repeated as a subtask of the previous stage.
Iteration also branches into FOR and WHILE instructions and requires a special syntax; recursion on the other hand is just a looping behaviour. Iteration then exists only n a special time while recursion is part of a daily routine.
To conclude the defining quality of the loop is that result in automated infinite production.
Algorithm by Andrew Goffey
The text take us through various ways to understand the reality of Algorithms. Starting from Goldschlager and Lister definition the algorithm is "the unifying concept for all the activities which computer scientists engage with; it is the fundamental entity in with computer scientists operate and is an abstraction that is independent from its embodiment, in a particular programming language.
Algorithms have a crucial role in software but what about the social, political and cultural role?Is any place of culture in software?
From an historical point of view, algorithm, occupy a central position in computing science if we think about Alan Turing's concept of machine that could be used to solve problem mechanically thanks to a algorithm. Without the algorithm there would be no computing.
So algorithms do things because they are a precisely controlled series of steps in the accomplishment of a task; their syntax embodies a command structure in order to do something. Language as we know it is another way to link the abstraction to the reality
M. Facault also conceptualized the algorithm as a statement, not related to the semantic features of the language but to its historical existence. For him, speak is to do something, like express what one thinks or knows and is something other than to play with the structure of language.
Only human can accomplish these actions because they are expected from an analysis which focuses on the historical existence of natural languages.
The development of an algorithm requires a level of formal abstraction, which then allows that algorithm to be applied to other kind of content. There is need also of a simultaneous existence of data structures in order to translate a series of order so they can be tractable within software. A operation of transformation that change status of things
In conclusion Geoffrey states that algorithms act and they do it as part of a network of actions where unintended consequences can became very important.

My assignment works around 4 noise generators and 5 customized images. Using the position of the cursor on the screen as input we can sweep the band pass filters of each noise generator but also make the images moving on the screen. In this way I created the typical windy effect and the images look like they are floating on the screen and moved by the wind.
I also added a simple oscillator wich frequency is triggered by the keyboard of the computer in order to add more texture to the overall soundscape created by the noise generators.
Are we all addicts now?
At Furtherfield Gallery Katriona Beals show and make us think how human kind can behave in relation with digital sources. She proposes a series of art works related to the addicted use of digital tools such as mobile phones and web social platforms. Looking at her works in a tiny dark room we are immersed in an obscure world where screens and lights take most of the space. A PC connects us to a endless series of directories while our eyes movement is projected on the sealing, a small screen on the wall show counts of Donald Trumps Tweeter shares and likes, at the entrance a fruit machine activate when some one moves in front of it and images from the web randomly allign on three digital reels.
Very interesting in the end and quite creepy at the same time.

Moth generator@Katie Rose Pimpkin
The Moth by Katie Rose Pimpkin it's a new way to approach a social media within the creative world. The genius behind this is a lady from Austin Texas, with a degree in Studio Art and experience in drawings and installions but also curator of creative spaces. I've choosen her work because is quite recent, (2015) and easily enjoyable. We are in the tweeter field, and precisely in the world of the so called "bots"; these are programmed digital users that are able to perform a specified task. In her Tweeter artworks Katie uses Javascript as platform, to create scripts that interact with a server wich behave as a common user posting a tweet. In the Moth-generator tweeter, following a series of complicated multiple instructions, the server randomly generate images of digital "moths" . Every moth image has a name with a vague latin like morphology also generated in automation.
Pasquale is an inventor. The pyramidsynth is his own creation and it’s magic. A keyboard is linked to modules that take instructions from the shape, the weight and the surface of an object placed on them. When you play the keyboard you are playing with the sounds that come from those objects. Wow.
