What’s better than an amazing birthday cake? How about TWO amazing birthday cakes!! It was my mom’s birthday recently and for her second cake she got creative with the sentiment—taking it as an opportunity to also reflect on the day’s zany events (you guessed it—we found a tick dwelling on the outer part of my dad’s ear). Dad is doing well (don’t know about the polite and good mannered tick).

So in a previous post I mentioned something about Kiddie Cake and a B rating. I'm happy to say that I recently drove past the sweet establishment and was nearly blinded by the fabulously displayed "A" rating on the front window. Go Kiddie Cake!!

As I probably mentioned in previous posts, my dad and sis have the same birth date (so neat, right?) and this has to be one of my favorite celebration cakes. Not only because there are two of them but look closely. What do you notice about the little stick figure included on the top of both desserts---isn't that so cool?! Obviously my mom placed the order for these cakes.

Thanks for the wonderful experience Fordham University. What better way to celebrate a college graduation than with a cake and consolidation of student loans. I can't wait for the "Thanks for the memories Sallie Mae--no more payments for you" celebration cake.

Does someone actually need to be present in order to celebrate their birthday? Sometimes yes and sometimes not really. While I studied abroad in Australia I celebrated my 21st birthday. That wasn't the only celebrating going on though. Little did I know a few time zones away  my family also took my birthday as an opportunity to enjoy some cake and some Val-free time.

Here are a couple of snapshots. In the top photo you can see some of the gang with my yummy cake (notice the candles--another math problem 5,7,1 which means 5-7=2; 2 and 1 make 21), and a pic of me from my actual birthday abroad, getting ready to make a wish.

I just wish they saved me a piece...

What I love about this cake is that my mom tends to get creative with toppers. Notice the numbers: 5,2,7 (with a 1 in the background). Sometimes it takes detective work but if I remember correctly, my dad was celebrating his 53rd birthday (52 +1) and my sis was celebrating her 28th birthday (27 +1). After solving a math problem like that a yummy cake is the perfect reward!
