Things I Have Learnt From Uni So Far:
You can find awesome friends that you get along with so well even in the first couple of weeks and end up just talking for ages about crap until midnight every night.
Electronics lab + Hangover = Running out to be sick halfway through. Seriously though they made us listen to beeping noises and I was feeling so sick and then the people sat behind me were having a conversation about food for literally half an hour and I couldn't take it anymore.
It sucks if you don't have any work to do when other people do. You walk into the kitchen and people have spread all their shit all over the table and you wanna sit down and eat your ramen but there's a fear of spilling it all over someone else's work.
Drinking, after the first fortnight, loses its value somewhat and it's just effort to go out and get drunk.
You can be homesick for an hour but then your friend will text you and you'll watch a movie in their room and everything will be all right again.
Now for some specific to my uni:
'The Ratio'. Hahaha becuase I go to a science & technology university, this is all you ever talk about when talking about girls/guys. Being a girl, I've had quite a few guys coming on to me (which never happens back home). But all of my friends are guys and they've had girls coming on to them as well so I guess it's what you make of it. But there have been situations since I've been here that I haven't had to deal with before that have been stressing me out.
Every subject (apart from physics) seems to be getting so much work set but I've managed to keep on top of all of my work so far. See 'Neon Bunny' for awesome music to work to.
London is what you make of it. Free iMax, dystopian clubs, casual afternoon spent walking (but not buying) around Harrods and going for a jog in Hyde Park are all the things you can do in the same week (this week actually!). Sounds amazing, and it is amazing.
Fresher's flu will never die. I have been ill since the 2nd day here, and it won't go away. Every morning I have a massive coughing fit about 40 mins after I get up, like now.
I've never been to bed before midnight. Most of the time I haven't even gone out but you just end up chatting and stuff. This doesn't help when you have to be up at 7:30 for a 9:00 lecture.
I thought I couldn't write essays, but compared to the people in my professional skills seminar class, who can't even write sentences, I'm good enough to win a tin of biscuits as a prize for 2nd best article! Physics, woop!
Nicknames for all your lecturers: Weird guy, that woman, vijay & his skateboard etc.
6pm every day the tv in the kitchen will get turned on so we can watch The Big Bang Theory! And it's great because for once I'm not the only one that understands all of the science/physics jokes.
I have to go and have a shower now. This is becoming such a chore, but I don't wanna stink. My shower is so small. My room is too small for all of my stuff so it ends up looking continually messy if I leave one thing out of place. My friend has a single room though and every time I go into his room it look really tidy and not a load of crap everywhere like in mine.
Uni is an amazing place. I'm going home for 2 days tomorrow but I really wouldn't mind staying up here until christmas... anyway I have lectures 2-5 today and then Japanese class 6-8 so it's a busy day!
