PSA: TIP YOUR SERVERS

Tonight I had a table with a $76 bill. They left me a tip of $3.65. I make $5.03 an hour before taxes. After taxes, it can be as low as $1.50 per hour. In fact, last week my entire check was voided because I owed more in taxes than I would have been paid.

Tip your servers and TIP THEM WELL. Seriously. These people are literally serving you, cleaning up after you, catering to your every whim, smiling until their faces hurt, and probably haven't sat down in hours. Tip 20% unless they're really terrible and, even then, don't tip less than 15%.

Don't punish your servers if you wait a little while for your food. 9.9 times out of 10, it's not their fault. Also (and I know I'm getting greedy now), when possible, tip in cash. I'm not saying carry around cash specifically for tips, but if you happen to have enough cash on you to leave a decent tip and you don't need it for something later in the day, leave a cash tip. Servers get taxed a lot on all credit card tips.

TL;DR: Servers rely on your tips. Without tips, these people are basically working for pennies. Tip always. Tip well. Tip in cash. And generally don't be an asshole.
