@bender-zelo-blog
â Well you probably already know this but water is known as the element of change.â â The moon acts as a water bender source of power.â She replied with a smile looking up at the moon, her smile widening each second, she could feel the heightened power rushing through her. âThe original water benders actually learned how to water bend by watching how the moon pushed and pulled the tides of the ocean,â
â So naturally the moon plays a big role in bending ability.â âWhen the moons full water benders become much stronger then they would be normally.ââ To the point that they could take out multiple enemies at once and not give in to fatigue.â
Realizing she was beginning to ramble on she faded off into silence. â Oh god , I probably sounds like one of your school teachers donât I?â She stated laughing to her inwardly.â I guess i tend to ramble off a bit.â She smiled at the boy, before picking up the pace as they drew nearer to the arena. The gold outline of the magnificent building and flashing lights where just visible beyond the horizon.
â Well at leastâs its a pleasant distraction.â She replied with a smile. â Earth boarding?â A look of confusion clouded her face. â Whatâs that?â Krystal gave the boy a sheepish look. Sheâd never learnt much about the other form of bending, only the basics really. Of all the elements earth was probably the one she knew the least about. Then again she had spent most of her life away from solid ground.
â Well iâve heard a few matches over the radio.ââ I donât think Iâve ever actually been inside the arena though.â She replied with a small smile.â I tend to stay away from crowds if i can.â  Have you ever competed ?â You seem talented enough to excel in a competition like that.â
"Oh yeah, yeah, it's pretty self-explanatory." He nodded his head fervently as he took in her words that were now foreign to him. "Really?" He looked up at the moon to try and imagine the waterbenders hundreds of years ago who looked at the moon for inspiration. It did make sense to him since he knew the simple fact that gravity was also playing a role in this, but because the moon had greater power in waterbending, that's how he came to understand that. "But it sucks that you can't have your peak power all the time." He crinkled his nose in pity, but his ears perked up at the ability they had with the full moon, and he honestly felt jealous. "No fatigue? That's not fair." He chuckled. "I wish we had something like the full moon..."Â
He laughed at the sudden comment and shook his head. "No you don't, the teachers just ramble on and on, this is interesting okay." He reassured her with another laugh. "It's not your fault anyway, I don't know, if I had something like that then I'd probably like to ramble about it too." He admitted without shame, but sadly, he didn't have anything as precious as the moon apart from the earth itself, and she knew enough about earthbending as any other person would.
"Oh, sorry." He scratched his head because he forgot to tell her exactly what earth boarding was. It was something that made him an individual, something no other bender in his school, or at least year group, could do. His own invention of fun. "Well," he cleared his throat with a smile jokingly, "if you want I can show you. It's like skateboarding but it's using the earth and actual earthboard if you will." From the rocks nearby he brought them at his feet and blended them together so they became a solid board with round rock wheels at the base. He hopped on and using his hands he glided himself around her with the use of his bending instead of rolling the actual board. "Like that." He said as he broke the board into rocks and returned them to it's origin. "A simple demonstration." He chuckled sheepishly. "I go to school that way, actually I travel almost everywhere that way."
"Never?!" He exclaimed, almost stopping in his tracks from the confession. "That's crazy!" He almost laughed at how ridiculous it sounded, but it was forgivable seeing as she hasn't lived there all her life unlike him. "Oh, that explains why I suppose, but it's great for training." He nodded his head as they took the road that led to the big arena. "No I've never." He admitted with a small pout. "I just turned sixteen so now I'm allowed to though, I hope I can soon, my father put me up for a team." He smiled with a bright expression, fighting was his passion you could say. "I'm not as talented as you think, maybe you're exaggerating." He chuckled and shook his head.
She chuckled at his question. âItâs a woman thing, really. Women like to stay young, they donât want people knowing their real age,â she replied. She listened to his reactions, smiling at how surprised he seemed. âQuite destructive. Theyâre two and turning three soon. I donât know their actual birthdays so I used the date the were found by the foster home,â laughing at his comment, she continued by saying. âZelo, youâre too young for kids⊠not that Iâm any different. Hah, hah. And yes, I guess that is the nature of children. They bring a new light into your world really. I would do anything to give these two the wonderful life they deserve.â
After a while, she realized that looming feeling she felt had disappeared completely. She grinned at Zelo, pulling her knees up to her chest and laying her head on them. âYou know, Zelo, you must have magical powers or something. Talking to you completely took my mind off my situationâŠâ Her expression softened into that of a sincerely thankful one. âThank you, really. I just⊠Itâs quite uplifting to be able to talk to someone so freely like this. I usually have to keep a close mind on what I say because I donât want my words being reported back to my mother,â she closed her eyes and nuzzled against her knees, relaxing a bit before tensing up at the realization of what she said. She stared wide eyed at Zelo. âUh, just ignore what I said⊠But I really am thankful.â
Zelo never really understood a woman's thoughts, he's never taken quite an interest in women that much because earthbending was taking over his life. Maybe he'd have to take notes from Dasom about what women like or don't like. "Stay young?" His eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. "That's strange, Â you're not even old Noona!" He chuckled as he looked at the wrinkle-free face of the women. She didn't even look nineteen to him. "Wow..." His mouth was left open as he heard their age. Two, and they could bend already?! "Wow," he laughed after he repeated the word, "I couldn't bend until I was like six." He was always embarrassed when he told people, he earthbent much later than the other kids in his school but as soon as he did, he picked up things much quicker than they'd think. "Too young, I know, I know, I was just saying." He laughed at the thought of him taking care of children at his current age, and snapped back to reality before he could begin to visualize it. That wasn't going to work out too well. "You're like the best mother ever..." He said in amazement as he looked at her talk about her children. "I'm sure having you in their life is enough already." He smiled softly.
A melodic chuckle emitted from his mouth as he realized that the stress had been lifted off of her shoulders, and she was looking much better than before when he came up to her. A proud feeling washed over him as she gave her thanks and he shook his head in reply. "It was nothing... I'm just conversing you, that's all I'm doing." He laughed as he arranged himself to mirror her current position, his long legs getting in the way of everything. "Wait..." Now he didn't know what to do. She had just brought up another one of her problems and he wanted to question why it was so bad, but she also just thanked him of ridding her stress on her mind and if he brought the subject back, she would go back to her gloomy self again, and he didn't want that for her. So he decided to dismiss it quietly and nodded at the suggestion instead. "Okay... it's really nothing, you don't have to thank me for doing nothing."Â
âEh? Really?â She raised an eyebrow curiously. âAnd where might that be?â She chuckled. âAll right. If I ever do feel homesick, Iâll come visit.â Listening to him laugh at her answer, she shrunk sheepishly in her spot. So, she was wrong. She lightly chuckled along with him, listening to him real his real age. Wow⊠so young⊠she thought, looking at him in surprise. Listening to his next few questions, she laughed a little herself.
âAh, Zelo, you should learn that you never ask a woman her age,â she laughed. âIâm nineteen.â Thinking for a moment about her two children, she tried to remember the information given to her at the foster home before replying. âAh, letâs see. Well, I actually adopted them thinking they were nonbenders. I was told that they were left at the front door of the foster home with no information whatsoever. The two were mere babies when they were abandoned, poor things,â she chuckled. âYou see, I found out about their waterbending just recently. The two are absolutely enthusiastic about their bending, though they get a bit destructive.â She shook her head lightly, grinning from ear to ear as she remembered the times her kids terrorized the family pet and their uncles with their bending.
âWaterbenders or not, I completely fell in love with the two. They-â Her eyes lit up as she continued thinking about her two gifts from above. She smiled and nodded softly. âTheyâre the reason I want to keep smiling and being strong. For them. If they saw me upset, theyâd surely become upset, too, affecting their training. I would never want to do thatâŠâ
"Mmm," he hummed straightening his back and pointed his hand the way he came behind her, "I came that way, you just exit the park and walk a bit until you reach this big bronze statue of my ancestor. You won't miss it." He said as he extended his arms to show how big the statue was before reverting his gaze back to her. "It'll be nice to see you." He sheepishly said.
Zelo's bottom lip stuck out hearing this weird statement and immediately thought why? "Why shouldn't you ask? But you asked me what mine is?" He pouted at the confusion. "Nineteen..." So young for a mother, I wonder who her husband is, he chuckled in his head at the thought. Her family sounded ideal to him, not that it was like his with the adoption, but having kids who grew to be waterbenders when they weren't were pleasing. "Oh... that's like me." He pressed his lips together as he remembered how he was told he was adopted, not born from his parents. "Destructive?" That reminded him of himself. "How old are they exactly?" He had caused a lot of trouble at his preschool days, oh the memories.
He listened contently at the little rant of her kids and smiled all the way through, watching her talk like they were the new loves of her life, as if they were her everything. "Noona... you make me want to have kids now." He laughed as he pulled out more grass from the ground. "That's how kids are I guess, they have an affect on you too then I suppose." He thought out loud as he looked at the mental image of his parents.
â It is indeed.â She replied smiling up at the full moon. â I love the full moon, something about it is just mesmerizingâ donât you think?â She stared up at the moon her eyes full of wonder. Krystal  had always loved the moon, She could sit for hours at night just gazing out her window looking up at it and the silvery glow it cast down on the earth. Giving everything it touched a almost mystical gleam,
The moonlight fell down on them giving them the silvery glow she so loved. â My house is about a ten minute walk from here.â â Unless i get distracted then it takes longer.â â I have a habit of wondering off.â She laughed to herself thinking of all the times she had giving to distraction and ended up in the strangest places. â Iâm not very good at sticking to sticking to something.â â I tend to get distracted or wander off.â â My mother always told me curiosity was my besetting sin.â She replied with a smile. â Is your families house far from here?â
â Pro Bending it is then.â She began to make her way up the rode steadying her pace to match the earth benders â Are you a fan of Pro Bending?â Krystal had heard about Pro Bending from almost everyone she had met it was one of the main reasons people seemed so infatuated with Republic City. She had walked pasted it many times in all its glory and fame.
People seemed to flock to the stadium in hoards all hoping to catch a glimpse of some of the cities top bending teams,Krystal had never actually ventured inside the arena preferring to avoid the crowds. Well i guess thereâs a first time for everything she though to herself smiling inwardly.
Licking his lips together to moisturize the dryness of the tea he stuffed his hands in his pockets looking up still. "What happens to your bending if there's a full moon?" He always wondered since he was never to see a waterbender bend at that time before. He imagined amazing things, beyond their natural ability, but he never knew for sure what they could do. He obviously didn't love the moon as much as Krystal, but suffice to say, it was comforting to look at.
"Ten minutes..." He repeated and nodded his head. "Like how I'm distracting you now?" He joked and bit his lip, hopefully that was funny enough. "That's okay, you'll live longer if you're curious. My auntie always told me that." And he remembered well because this curiosity is one of the main reasons as to why he's so independent. "Yeah maybe half an hour walk, but if I go earthboarding it's quicker." He sheepishly rubbed his neck at the mention of his from-childhood hobby.
Zelo nodded his head vigorously at the ask as a promising smile arose on his lips. "Nae, they're really fun to watch. And it's good to learn from them too." He said as he kicked a pebble out of his way. He's only ever been to a handful of matches as a child and preteen, and he aspired to at least bend like the ones who know what they're doing. The aura in the arena was so intense and thick; it taunted him. "Are you?" He asked, returning the question.
Zelo could feel the earth beneath him shake softly as his steps emitted excitement. His palms irked to bend, to duel or to fight. And he knew that the tough opponents were only shown to his real love of earthbending.Â
Tao knew that the younger was still following him and it irritated the fighter. He didnât want to fight again tonight, he just wanted to get home and rest. To much had been on his mind lately to focus on thisâ
He turned a few sharp corners in the back alleyways, hoping to lose the earthbender somehow. Soon he came across a house and jumped onto itâs low roof, walking across to find another low roof he could move to. They were almost to the edge of the dragon flats borough, and that was as far as he would let Zelo follow him. He didnât excatly know what side the bender was on, but it sure wasnât Anitva and that was enough to make Tao want to loose him.
Seeing that none of his questions or statements were answered by his voice, he scrunched his face as he continued to follow and when he had finally disappeared from his sight, he panicked. He went too fast, and Zelo couldn't keep up... yet.
Listening at the still of the night, the calming of the air, becoming almost one with nature, he tried his best to hear the older's almost disappearing movements and rang a bell in his head when he did. The Dragon Flats, he thought. So he quickly made his way over there to see him trying to get away, and it left Zelo in an unwanted manner. He frowned. He had no where to go now. He didn't want to disturb the older, so he watched in silence instead.Â
nonbendertao:
âIâve been training since before the sun rose, I kind of want to sleep thanks.â Yup Krisâs speech is having an effect on him. He sighed softly, having half a mind to kick this guy off of his feet and make a run for it. He seriously doesnât want to put up with this right now.
At the earthbending Tao jumped slightly and halted in his step, glaring back at the younger. Couldnât he take a hint? âYouâre almost as bad as those men I beat up a few minutes ago.â He glared, âWhen someone wants to be left alone, thatâs it. If youâre going to insist on stalking me I suggest you stop earthbending and learn to walk on two feet.â
With that he was turning around, cutting down an alley that was to small for the formation Zelo made to cross through. Tao simply just wanted to get home, was that so much to ask?
"That early?" He whistled in a downwards tone  as he slumped the back of his head onto the rock, now facing the starry night sky with a clear view of the moon. "I was still sleeping away." He mumbled to himself as he moved to lean on his belly, facing the older before him.
"Me?! No way in hell am I as bad as them, that's exaggerating a bit!" He almost yelled in annoyance but remembered to tone it down so Tao wouldn't get angry at him again. "And I'm not stalking you, I'm just accompanying you that's all." He simply muttered as the floating rock began to follow him. "Why do you hate earthbending so much anyway?"
As they got to an alley Zelo groaned in annoyance as he knew that Tao had this coming. So the earth beneath him crumbled to bits and he landed on his own two feet, following the older in silence.Â
Well that much is sadly quite apparent.â She replied with a smile. â Donât worry if i told a joke it would probably be so tragically terrible you wouldnât want to see me ever again.â She laughs slightly it was apparent that neither she or the boy had a future in the comedic industry. Soon after an awkward silence ensued, she decided to respond to the boys questions in order to break the silence. â Friends?â Iâve met a few since settling down here.â â I must admit everyone here is very welcoming.â
She smiled as she thought of everyone she had met here, all so different yet each as kind as the last. Noticing the boy rise from the tab;e Krystal followed him as they began the walk to the restaurants door. She found it humbling as the boy made sure to thank everyone as they passed. It wasnât often people her age ,or any age  really, where so respectful towards others. It was a rare quality that Krystal truly valued in a person.
The night air was peaceful as they stepped out of the restaurant onto the dimly lit street. Krystal had always been partial to night enjoying its tranquility and calm air. There was a beauty to night that she found almost indescribable. Not to mention her bending level increased due to the appearance of the moon.
â I was actually on my way home before all this happened.â She gestured towards the Ice Cage as the police where beginning to arrest the thugs. â Since you and I have nothing better to do , we might as well well do something fun togetherâ She let out a smile.â Thanks for dinner by the way, I love noodles â She patted her stomach contently as if to show her thanks while  breaking out into a big grin â Hmm lets see, we could go to the pro bending arena or even to the park, Oh , i know how about downtownâ Krystal let out a sigh. â Iâm really indecisive when it comes to things like this.â â I think its best you decide or else weâll be here all night.â
"That makes two of us." He politely laughed covering his hands with his mouth as he nodded in agreement that bending was more of a winner rather than joking. But it didn't matter, humorist traits were never to be found in his character, and he didn't really think he needed it in his life anyway. "Ah that's right, we are welcoming here, it must be in our blood." He chuckled. "Great that you've finally made friends, huh?"
Zelo cracked his neck from side to side and twisted his arms once he was outside to get the better feel of his body as he waited for Krystal to follow up, and he ceased in his actions once she did so. Noticing the moon as their audience for the night, he remembered in school how he was taught that waterbenders were up to their full ability once it was out, and it awed him that they were allowed such features to strengthen their bending. "It's a good moon, hm?" He said, making conversation.
He nodded as he took in the words and remembered the real reason why he went there. Oh yeah, to eat real food. Not the type his parent's maids would do for them back at the house, he'd had enough of that in this stage of his life. "Is your home far from here?" He followed her gaze as he saw the thugs being arrested by the police, a sly smirk forming on his lips. "Oh yeah, it's nothing really. There's nothing better than a good bowl to get you going." He patted his stomach too, imitating the soft movements her hand did. "The Pro Bending Arena huh..." He loved that place. It recalled so many memories in his head he couldn't get enough of that place, it had to be there. "That place sounds like its calling my name."Â
benderdasom:
She raised a question at the hair comment and chuckled. âNo⊠Perhaps Iâm looking in the wrong places,â she chuckled again. âThe only earthbenders Iâm sure of are the metal bending officers.â
Hearing him tell her to guess his age, she bit her lip, thinking about it. He was quite tall, so he mustâve been in his teens at least, yet he was very young looking. He seemed like he mightâve been around Sehunâs age, so she decided to go with that. âUm⊠are you possibly eighteen?â She winced at her answer, mentally face-palming herself. Sheâd never been good at guessing, so she took it as she probably got it wrong.
Hearing that he was an adoptive child, she smiled at him, having a soft spot for adopted children. Her own two kids were adopted themselves. Though it was a whole other thing that she felt relieved he hadnât come from the earth kingdom. The less of a connection she couldâve had with him, the better. She wasnât willing to have her activity reported back to her mother yet again. âOh? Youâre adopted?â She awed and nodded her head slowly. âIâm impressed. You know, I have adopted children, too. Though mine are waterbendersâŠâ She chuckled at the thought of her knowing nothing about raising the water troublemakers.
Zelo's head cocked to the side as he tried to think of other Earthbenders  such as her and himself; he knew plenty of them, considering the community in his area that were practically swarming with them, he thought it was quite odd that she didn't know any other than the officers. Being the only teenage metalbender he knew that fact was acceptable. "That's strange, there's a whole lot in my area." He stuck his bottom lip out. "Whenever you're feeling home sick maybe you could come some time." A small chuckle following his words.Â
He shook his head with loud laughter as he heard the number almost every person would guess. Oh the joy of having this height. "No, Noona, good guess though!" He patted her on the lap before revealing his real age. "I just turned sixteen last year." He pulled out some grass and threw some on the side before returning the question. "How old are you Noona?"
Zelo's lips pressed together as he firmly nodded at the repeated statement, although he had no shamed of being adopted, it was just hard to see what people thought of it knowing that in the past he was poorly looked down upon. But his eyes lit up as he heard her children were adopted, and he even opened his mouth a little hearing that they were waterbenders instead of earthbenders like herself. "How come they're waterbenders instead? Was it their father or in their blood?" He pondered upon the thought if he didn't join his current family now, what he'd be like in a different life.
âAnd i didnât ask to be the size of a smurf either.â She laughed as the others joke as corny as it was. â To answer your question, why yes i wouldnât mind swapping.â She replied with a laugh picturing in her mind what it would be like to be like for her to be taller then Zelo.â Unfortunately i think thatâs humanely impossible.â â Guess Iâm doomed to live out the rest of my days as a gnome inhabiting a mushroom.â She sighed, then again being really tall was probably as bad as being really short.
â Itâs defiantly interesting, I guessâ  She gave him a smile noticing the look in his eyes â It can get lonely sometimes though.â Krystal thought back to her childhood. She had spent most of it alone only meeting girls her age maybe once or twice a year, she often found herself a outcast. She was never really good at the social aspect of friendships. Besides in her mind she found them to be quite unnecessary she was never around longer enough for them to actually develop into something meaningful anyway.
Eventually Krystal grew to accept her isolation from others preferring to practice by herself for hours at a time. She would pick  water bending over all the possible friends in the world. Noticing the other paying the bill Krystal hastily grabbed her bag. Noticing the look in the others eye she decided to leave it alone. Iâll make it up to him later she said to herself.
â It must be nice to have a sibling,â She smiled hoping to break the awkward silence that had engulfed the table., she sensed the others heartbreak in his voice obviously his life hadnât been easy. â So what to do know?â She replied in a playful manner.
"Unfortunately... If there was a bending for that I think everyone would want to be tall." He laughed and scratched his neck at the attempt of another poorly made joke. He was terrible at socializing, it was never his thing in the first place, and he was surprised that he had gotten that far as to eat dinner with Krystal. He cleared his throat before sheepishly apologizing "Excuse me... I don't make jokes often." He bit his lip to hinder a smile.
"Ah, loneliness..." Zelo closed his eyes at the thought of his childhood. "My middle name." He laughed inwardly. Being at the house he had his father's friends bring over many of their children, and he of course played with them only to be the prey of theirs after they found out he was adopted. Such friends they were, he thought. "Well now that you're older, you must have some friends you can rely on, no?" Even Zelo at this age had the occasional brother or two to lend a helping hand. He was doing well for an independent person.
A mental laughter echoed in his head as she saw her grab her bag after he had paid the bill. That was something he'd expected; all girls tend to do that if he paid for their bill, and he gradually got used to it seeing them tense up and making up for it after.Â
"Oh yeah, I love Noona a lot." He smiled as the image of her crept up in his head. "They keep you going I guess." He stood and stretched a bit to soothe his stiff muscles and went to the exit, making sure to bow and mutter words of thanks to the staff members as he went outside. He turned to Krystal with a smile and asked, "So, where are you heading to now? I didn't really have any plans after this." He chuckled awkwardly and scratched his neck for the second time that night.
benderdasom:
She looked up at him, amazed a bit by how wise yet simple his answer was. She continued listening to him, letting the words sink in little by little. She chuckled, and nodded. âEh, youâre in a similar situation?â She raised an eyebrow, though she thought itâd be best to not question it any further. Taking what he said into consideration, he probably had something to hide like she did. âI guess youâre rightâŠâ She sat up and crossed her legs. Facing Zelo, she grinned and ruffled his hair. âWell, Iâm glad youâre here then. Itâs nice to know another earthbender.â
Her eyes slowly lowered to the ground. Though his words rang true, that she should fight and do something to regain that passion she had for earthbending before, but she felt a bit conflicted. What if she repeated the same mistakes as she did before? What if the enemies stepped into her boundaries yet again? Could her spirit take another dampening as much as this time? As she thought each question through and through, the walls slowly built up around her heart, brick by brick. She was willing to go back to her old and usual self, but things would never be the same again. She refused to open her heart as easily as she mistakenly did before.
Turning back to Zelo, she chuckled sheepishly and patted his shoulder, nodding to him. âSo, tell me, Zelo. You seem quite young to even be able to grow grass with your bending and compact rocks. How old are you? Are you originally from the earth kingdom?â She asked, trying to be friendly.
Zelo shook his head to himself as he realized it was a mistake to bring up the relativity of his situation. "Well in a way, you could say so..." Deciding not to say anything else he cleared his throat as she sat up and flinched as she ruffled his hair. Oh god, that was something he really hated, especially when he styled it too. All that effort put to waste. "Noona," he brushed his hand through his hair, Â "watch the hair." He laughed jokingly. "Yeah I guess so... don't you know a lot of other earthbenders?" He said as he swirled the tiny rocks into the air in circles above his hand.
He noticed the quietness rise in the air as her thoughts overtook her from speaking and he let her just this once reflect on the things he's just said, even though it really came out with him speaking. He'd never fight back, no way in hell would he. If things came to its worst Zelo would probably run away as funny as it sounds, and he knew that leaving his sister would probably the thing that would affect him the most. He has the connection with his parents for sure, but not one a blood-related child would hold. So he wanted to help this person the best way he could, but not how he would do it, because he was a completely different person.
His mind was interrupted when he felt a light touch on his shoulders, and he immediately dropped the rocks in the air to turn his focus to Dasom. How old was he? Oh, that question. "Why don't you guess my age?" He giggled mischievously. "I was born here in the City. Well, I was brought up in the City. I have adoptive parents so I have no idea what I would have become if it weren't for them." He laughed solemnly. "Everyone says I'm an able bender but I guess it's just me..."Â

Tao groaned when the other started to run after him again. âSo youâve said.â He rolled his eyes slightly. Why couldnât the kid take a hint that he was trying to leave? Drop the subject and never return to it? He really was just that wasnât he - a kid?
âListen, iâm trying to get home and Iâd rather not some stranger know where I live so do you mind backing off?â He said blunts, sidestepping a few steps to be a good distance away from the bender. Closeness wasnât his thing, he was barely close with anyone. He could only name two people off the top of his head that could get close without permission.
But seriously, what was this kidâs problem? âIf you want to ask something go ahead and do it otherwise Iâm ditching you the first chance I get, plan and simple.â
Not really noticing the other's plea of getting away, Zelo came forth once again unaware of the groans the other was sending him. He had nothing to lose that Friday evening. The weekend was ahead and he had no plans whatsoever, so staying up late would be alright for him. A little adventure did irk his mind however.
"Home? Why so early hyung? It's not even late, are you really going home?" Clearly not taking the hint, Zelo followed the older as a natural instinct and jumped up in the air, the earth underneath him forming a flat surface for him to lie his body on. He was facing the older sideways, with his elbow planted onto the rock, and his head leaning on his palm he looked at the older musingly.Â
"Why are you ditching me? Did I do something wrong?" Zelo pouted as his mind came to the conclusion that it was him fixing the staff is what ruined their little relationship. "Come on hyung, I'm not annoying you am I?" He asked with a playful smirk, still lying on top of the floating rock.
nonbendertao:
He sighed softly once more, trying his hardest not to flinch when the other yelled. He was still getting used to shouts not being accompanied by some sort of abuse. Thatâs why he wanted the other away. He didnât want to have to worry about that, about the fact tha the bender could lash out and all Tao could do was take it-
âIs it really betterâŠ?â He asked before stepping forward, taking the staff from the ground, staring at it for a moment before looking at the younger. âIf it breaks then itâs seen its time, and itâs time to move onâŠâ He seemed to be talking about more than a weapon for a moment, but he didnât go into further detail as he looking at Zelo. It wasnât a glare, but it wasnât exactly a soft look either - it was as if he was searching for somethingâ
âIâll take it - I canât promise Iâll use it.â He had a hard time even holding it because of the fact an earthbender had mended it, his fear of them was still rather high - even if he did want peace between benders and nonbenders alike. Some things just couldnât be forgiven. âI do hope youâre not one of the arrogant ones, it was benders like that, that caused me to wear these all the time.â He motioned to his bandages before turning away. He started to walk away, stopping only for a moment to look back at the younger.
âItâs Tao, by the wayâŠâ He introduced before starting to walk away once more.
"Yes it's better otherwise I wouldn't have said that, would I?" He gave a furrowed look with a small pout but it disappeared once he picked it up, hope riding in the midst of his mind. Was he going to take it now? "Well... if it's fixed by a metalbender, it could be up for even better battles. It could maybe up your game a little- Hi ya!" Breaking the serious moment Zelo childishly imitated the older's previous actions as he high kicked the air of nothing beside him, before returning back to the older with a sheepish grin. "I was just..." he cleared his throat. "Doing nothing."
"Wait, you will!?" Just hearing that alone was enough to make Zelo clap his hands together and stomp the ground, a little earthquake arising straight after but stopped as soon as he gave it permission to. His expression suddenly dropped when the older pointed to the bandages tied messily onto his arm. Why did he not notice this before? "Oh god..." He came closer to examine them. "No way in hell am I like that, come on hyung!" Zelo concluded that this guy was an Antiva, so why wasn't he beating the shit out of him like he said he would when he'd come across one? They aren't all that bad, unless they did something else...
His thoughts were interrupted as he noticed the disappearance of the older, and he immediately ran to catch up with him on his walk, smiling at the sudden mention of the older's name. "Tao hyung." He repeated with formality. "My name is Zelo."Â
â Hey!â She snapped in mock offence. â Iâm not that old, your just really little.â She stuck her tongue out at the earth bender, mimicking his actions from earlier s unexpected fight â Defiantly little.â She replied crossing her arms defiantly. â Well except in height,â â Your defiantly taller then my gnome like  genes will ever allow me to be.â She said with a sigh leaning over and finishing off the last of her noodles, relishing in their warmth and spice.
â Well i suppose my parents decided it was time to settle down in one place.â  â I suppose they decided that life at sea wasnât for them anymore.â She gave a shrug. â I have no idea why they chose Republic City though, they probably liked how multicultural it was.â Honestly Krystal herself still wondered what had possessed her parents to give usp their life at sea, the life they had cherished so much.
It was defiantly a source of a lot of late night frustration for Krystal, her parents had never given her a definite answer preferring to change the subject or just remain silent on the matter. She knew her parents would never give her the fool story and remained as tight lipped as ever on the matter. In essence it was a wedge that was driving them apart. Preferring to change the subject as her guess was at good as anyoneâs as to what went on inside her parents mind.
â What about you Zelo?â â Whatâs your family like?â She was curious about the youth , her was defiantly from an affluent or skilled family judging from his earlier display of power, then again if he was it seemed strange of him to be in such an area this late at night,
"Little?" He cocked his eyebrow in amusement. "I'm little?" He laughed as she stuck her tongue out, remembering when he did that outside before they went in the Noodlery. She was clearly mocking him. "I didn't ask for this height, Noona." He crinkled his nose and sighed. "Wanna swap?" He laughed at the offer and shook his head indicating the poorly made joke.
"Hm... life at sea, huh?" Now that sounded interesting to him. Rather than living in a high-end royal house that sounded far more exciting. Heck, it was lively, and that's something he was made of. But being a earthbender there was no way in hell that he'd survive out there. Who knew what it was like when there were storms or dangerous sea animals? Might have to skip that, he thought. "Yeah, the City's a beautiful place. A bit messed up at the moment though." His hand unknowingly balled up into a fist at the thought of the cause.Â
"Yes we're done thanks." Zelo pushed his bowl slightly as the waitress had come to retrieve the empty dishes and the money sitting in Zelo's pocket. He pulled out another bill to pay for both his and her dish and had hopes that she'd say nothing about it. It really was nothing to him, and he hoped that she'd see that.Â
"What's my family like?" He chuckled at the thought of it. "Annoying maybe?" He laughed and leaned closer, making sure no one of his kind was here. "I know I told you my name is Zelo, and it is... but my real name is Choi Junhong." He leaned back in his seat a little for comfort. "I come from the Han family at the edge of the City. I'm their adopted child." He remembered the moments in his previous school days.. the endless bullying, name-calling... the longing of blood-related parents. He shook his head and continued after wearing out. "But yeah, I have an older sister too, born from them. They all love me a lot, so I don't regret coming with them." He scratched his head in awkwardness... he really did bring down the atmosphere this time.
benderdasom:
Realization hit her hard hearing her situation repeated back to her in one sentence. She watched as he swirled the rocks around, smiling at the sight. Heâs an earthbender, too, she thought to herself. She casually clamped her hand down on the grass, picking up some loose dirt along with a few grass blades. Sifting the dirt through her fingers, she sighed. âI hope not. I spent nineteen years of my life training to get to the point Iâm at now,â she chuckled slightly. âI just⊠I donât feel the earth like I used to. I used to be able to see everything, feeleverything. Now itâs all but a dull pang in my senses.â She waved her hand back and forth against the ground, rolling pebbles around sadly. âIâve lost any determination and will to earthbend the way I used to.â
She let out a tired groan and flopped onto the ground, burying her face in her arms. âI donât what to feel anymore. Is it really worth it? I spend all this time training and becoming stronger, only to be told that I canât use it to its greater extent. On top of that, Iâm expected to be this dainty, little princess-like girl while also having the power of a master earthbender. Every time I use my bending, my family is on my back, telling me I should only use it when the time is needed. What is the point of training if I canât use it. You know, I just, Iâve lost my will and connection with the earth.â A long pause passed by before she continued. âPerhaps itâs for the best. Maybe itâs time I use my bending to put up walls and stay inside those walls.â
Hugging her knees, she rolled over on her side and glanced up at Zelo, a bit embarrassed about her previous rant. âAh, sorry, Jun⊠Zelo. I rambled a bit. I hope that wasnât a bit too overreacted.â
A crinkled expression was wiped onto Zelo's face as she moved the small pebbles on the ground in a drowsy manner. If she couldn't earthbend... then what was she doing at that moment? "Dasom Noona," he took the pebbles from her grasp and squeezed them together to create a solid rock. "You're bending right now... what do you mean you've lost the feel? If you've spent all that nineteen years over nothing... what do you consider this?" He mimicked her previous motions with his hands, "to be?" Zelo was the type to never lose hope in situations like these. Some may call it stubborn, but he called it determination... and passion. Something he felt that everyone should have when it came to bending. It was a godforsaken gift in his eyes. "Build that determination back up Noona..." He took the grass she pulled from the ground and connected it back to it's growth spot, growing taller than the other grass in its area.
Zelo froze at the sudden sigh she sighed and how she flopped about onto the ground. She really must have been stressed. Her story sounded a lot like his, princess-like, in his case, prince-like, royalty-treated. It was too much for him to handle, and it sounded like she was getting more pressure than she really needed at that moment. Zelo could perform such tasks as earth sinking, and even metalbending, which was extraordinary for someone his age. "I'm in a similar situation, Noona..." he paused,"fight back. Do something to stand up for yourself... Are you just taking this all without a fight?" He chuckled before continuing. "If you really love earthbending as much as you say, you'd do something to restore it's sense." He hoped that she'd soak all this petty advice in, because he meant every word he said.Â
He looked down at the huddled figure in front of him and shook his head with a smile. He was glad to have accompanied her in this little rant, and he was glad someone like him was facing the same problem he was facing. Only his resolutions were fixed. "Not a problem Noona... I'm here for you now."
