Portrait of The Stranger, White Horse Tavern, 1389

My personal headcanon is that Hob, thanks to his immortal life, he took the time to learn how to draw and paint his Stranger after the second time he meets him. So, after each centurial meeting Hob paints him down to the last detail, he has a very good memory, trust me.

Costume studies for Dream, year 1389.

Greetings little dreamers,

Here are four explorative designs for Dream’s English costume from the late 14th century.

Basically I was studying historical costumes, and I remembered that Dream has a very elaborate wardrobe with costumes from several time periods. So, yeah guess who decided it would be fun to draw a portrait of Dream through centuries for some costumes and designing said costumes?

Of course it’s me who came up with this.

I made sure that all four options had at least some raven motif somehow, and I know that in the comics Dream has golden jewellery but I personally view him as someone who wears white metals for his accessories. Of course I made a blend of historical accuracy while conserving the very nocturnal dramatic flare of Dream’s wardrobe as we see it in both comics and Netflix series.

Don’t hesitate to share your opinions in the comments when it comes to which design you prefer, what you would like to see on the official artwork of Dream in 1389 or/and what should I upgrade.

Here are some of references that I used for the concept phase, all references were chosen according to the English fashion often found in the noble class towards the end of the 14th century along side with references of how Dream looks in both the comics and series when he first meets Hob in 1389.

Monsterfucktober Bingo 2025 - C3/free space: "tavern/inn"

This year is all about places and so I chose the White Horse/New Inn as the place for the free space entry.

Hob waits at their table, at least once every month, like they had tried to establish after Dream's return. He doesn't expect his friend to show up, not after the Wake, but he still waits, sorting through his feelings, clinging to hope... When his Dream finally shows up, he is so much more than Hob was expecting... he is a star, a fire, an overwhelming force of light. Hob does not care.
