Actually MKulia is doomed because MK's too irony poisoned to admit she likes Julia and Julia's so far in denial she'll think they're still besties when they're kissing on the mouth
tbh? i think the show would be better if prillie was romantic and priyaleb was platonic instead of the other way around. think about it
s2 priyaleb fell into the trap of making a character serve no narrative purpose besides being a romantic interest which is LAME
s2 priyas arc reallllly should have been about her relationship with her parents. and caleb friendship is like the perfect way to do that. they share a common experience of being pressed to be extraordinary by their parents. bonding over that experience (like they did in the scene when they were looking for the idol) could help priya start questioning and challenging the way she was raised. the romance between priya and caleb in s2 kinda took away from their ability to actually interact as people instead of priya just constantly fawning over caleb
s1 prillie would be equally if not a little more effective if it was romantic. in s2 priya made a big deal out of the fact that she learned that falling for someone on the show was a Bad Idea. if she fell for someone (millie) and won anyways it would challenge that idea and could even set off the arc with her parents. also lesbian angst is cool
although. forcing characters into romance is kinda lame so i also think it would be cool if both of those relationships were platonic. prillie works either way but priyaleb just doesnt work that well as a romance to me. i do like the ship it just could be done soooo much better. and i much prefer them as friends
Was thinking about this at work but as much as I love the twist at the end of No One Eggspects the Spanish Inquisition and actually enjoy the whole episode, I also think it’s kinda…misplaced?? If that makes sense? Like I think Alejandro switching out the idols was clever, I genuinely didn’t expect it, and I thought the dialogue during the confrontation and the other cast reactions were pretty solid; but the thing with Aleheather for me is that they’re perfectly matched. Having Alejandro pull one over on Heather like that just felt unsatisfying, because it wasn’t like in WT when Alejandro and Heather would both win some interactions and lose others until Heather eventually won because she leaned into her more heroic side and/or Alejandro was defeated as both a symbol of antagonism and as a climax in his characterization wherein his pride and manipulative tactics finally resulted in his own downfall— Heather spent her time bickering with Jo or trying to prove Alejandro was lying, he spent it mostly being snarky with her, and then she got booted because he just…did something kinda clever that he would’ve done to anyone else who also posed a threat. It wasn’t a constant power struggle like it was in WT, it was Heather losing because in the AS narrative specifically, Alejandro simply was smarter than her; it felt empty, especially when held up to her victory in WT— which, side note, why is Heather exactly the same personality-wise as she was in the beginning of WT instead of growing since the end of it?? It would’ve been a lot more interesting for Alejandro to see Heather leaning into her heroic side more while still being on the villain team for her past, and maybe struggle with connecting with her because of that, or start picking up those characteristics when interacting with Mal, or become angrier and more distant and villainous in a cry for attention or an attempt to feel in control still despite being more pathetic than ever. And conversely I think Heather seeing who Alejandro’s become after her win/loss (depending on the ending) and feeling guilty or angry, and maybe struggling to relate to the other villains as much while still being hated by the heroes as well, would be really cool to see; it would also maybe add some flair to her rivalry with Jo, who maybe has a similar internal struggle or even has gotten worse since ROTI. There were so many other options that would’ve upped the heroes vs villains/good vs evil motifs and elevated their characters and tied up their storylines for the final season they appeared in, maybe showing the depths of what competitive reality TV has done to them and made them crave. But instead it was just kinda nothing. I feel like the twist would’ve worked better if it was reversed so Heather got Alejandro out while he desperately tried to stay in a game that was hurting him, or if Alejandro got someone like Jo or Lightning out instead— maybe because he sees himself in them and feels guilty or scared, but justifies this to himself because they’re “threats” (even though, to him, they certainly aren’t) because he’s afraid to admit that he’s still soft somewhere deep down— which he uncovers by working with Heather or working against Mal or etc. Idk something like that, maybe I’m talking out of my ass here because I haven’t seen WT or AS in a while but I feel like, while the twist itself was good, having Alejandro get Heather out specifically (especially considering how poorly the writers portrayed Heather that season within the context of her arc in WT) felt cheap and almost cynical.
drawing Total Drama for a stupid meme on twitter
Hey campers, guess who got far too into Total Drama (especially the gen 1 cast)
Also a sketch page full of Alejandros to prove to myself I can draw him properly
one day im gonna be in a retirement home telling the nurses about what the mkulia hug meant to me
me: and then julia put her arms out and did the thing white moms do when they want a hug. it was cute and kinda awkward i loved it. she was just letting herself be a little cringe there. and then they hugged. julia bent her knees a lil bit to be closer to mk's level even though she didn't technically have to. and they were just there hugging and smiling for a moment. the animators gave them that stupid weird looking td smile it was so adorable. they looked really happy and its not a common emotion for either of those characters. julia's always pissed off and mk's just like. displeased all the time. it was the closest they'd been for the entire season. i mean they held hands in the one episode but i think that might have been zee hallucinating. i'm not sure. but this is so important. much more important than the shining reference. because they hugged. julia hugged someone and mk hugged someone and it was each other. do you know what i felt? i was moved. tears welled in my eyes. i could never be disappointed they weren't canon. because what was canon was that they really did care for each other. that despite it all despite the fact that they had to take each other out to survive they still thought of each other as friends. and julia initiated the hug. JULIA. julia the most heartless character in the reboot decided that mk was important enough to hug. because her and mk's friendship meant that much to her. after hiding behind fake kindness for all her life, probably first at her parent's bakery thing then on social media for thousands or millions of people, she finally had someone who liked her for being the mean and nasty person she was. and she wanted to hold onto that so hard. i don't think the hug meant as much to mk but it was still something. julia did reciprocate the whole "liking the other for who they really are" thing. her and mk's alliance gave her a chance to play the game she really wanted to: to cheat and cause mayhem. remember she went into the first season wanting to keep a low profile. but now she could do anything with julia. she was always so amazed by her. this moment and this elimination was the crystal clear evidence that this season could have been amazing. we could have had these emotional exits for other characters. we could have had relationships that really meant something. this hug was the diamond in season 2's rough. both mkulia and this season peaked at this moment. and then they let go. and mk left. the other half, the mk to her ulia, was gone, and what did we have left? nothing
the nurse: sir please just take your medication
theyre making meth
Was this done before. Dont rb yet I've got additions
Genuinely don't know if this was done b4 if it was ignore this post
Gwen would tell Geoff that people shed after their periods and bridgette and duncan would both be on board immediately. dj feels bad about it but he doesn't say anything but Courtney does. she's pissed that they're spreading sexist misinformation.
team bonding activity: competing to see who can trick him into believing the most ridiculous lie. and by team i mean duncan and gwen mostly
Someone bring that “Scott is just Country Duncan” post back because some people need to see it— desperately
I think if Duncan and Dj were dating Dj would make constant jokes about taking Duncan out of his encloser for enrichment like Dj is a vet tech i think hed be sending Geoff or Gwen snaps of Duncan staring at the Crocodiles in a zoo and caption it "you can stop your boyfriend from doing crimes with some enrichment <3" and theyd send back a thumbs up or something
adjacent advice: if you need more confidence, get a cool jacket or a haircut or something and think about how cool it makes you. this is loser advice, but we're all losers here. swallow your pride and roleplay as a cool guy and you'll become a cool guy.
it might help to think of yourself as a character designer and also yourself as a character, which is again kind of insane person advice, but this is an insane-person-for-insane-person audience blog
i said it was my favorite piece of media that i’ve hyperfixated on since the tender age of 12 and have not let go of since. i didnt say it was a Good piece of media
“what do you like about it so much?” the fact that it cocooned me like a tender wool blanket during my vulnerable teenage years. next question

Gwourtney week !!!!!!!!!! 💖💕💕
Day one: yearning/first date
Actually, kinda fucked up how Fresh waited until the end of the season to make the Priya Caleb storyline actually interesting with the whole morality angle. Like I still think they're cute and I will stand by that, but just imagine if they were in an actual alliance from the start.
They'd indirectly be at each other's throats at all times.
Priya is ruthless, stubborn at times, and intense while also being awkward with issues regarding her emotions and trust. Caleb is trusting, helpful, loyal, and soft in a lot of ways, not to forget his strong moral compass and seemingly not being good at confrontation. They'd compliment but also oppose each other.
Where Priya would be able to separate the game from real life, Caleb wouldn't. Where Caleb would be able to consider multiple sides to a story, Priya wouldn't. We saw this with how they acted regarding the backstab of Julia.
In a way it would be sorta similar to the Priya Millie alliance in season 1, only that Priya wouldn't be training Caleb, and that the alliance would begin to spiral with Priya perhaps becoming more unhinged the longer Julia stays (which she deserves btw) and Caleb painting himself further and further into a corner due to his inability to put his foot down. Which would allow him to have more fun and meaningful interactions with the other characters.
And if you then throw in them catching feelings for each other you've got yourself a toxic situationship perfect for Total Drama.
