The café was cute enough, Maki decided as she surveyed her surroundings. Pastel-colored decorations were complemented with dark wooden furnishings, adding to its not-completely-childish-vibe. The pleasant smell of freshly baked goods and roasted coffee wafted through the air, pleasing her senses. Overall, it was a decidedly nice place with a calming atmosphere.

But not calm enough. There were still people all around, and they were too loud.

AU where Nico finds out she’s pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s child, but due to the way things ended, she doesn’t want anything to do with him so she keeps it a secret from everyone but her family, and Eli and Nozomi. But when her water unexpectedly breaks a week before the due date, Eli and Nozomi rush her to the nearest hospital which happens to be the Nishikino Hospital that Maki has now taken over of. Nico still wants the whole thing to be a secret especially from Maki so she makes her doctor and the nurses swear not to say anything to their boss.

Nico gives birth to a healthy baby girl who possesses Nico’s raven hair and bright red eyes. She stays in the hospital for a week and Nico tries to make the time go by without accidentally running into the younger woman or having her find out she’s here. And all is going according to plan until Maki checks on the babies in the maternity ward on her free time and her gaze immediately attaches on to a particular baby with black hair and ruby eyes. So here she is, freaking out because she looks so beautiful and alluring.

In great curiosity, Maki goes through the patients log and her breath hitches when the name “Yazawa” comes up. She has no idea what to think or do so all she does for 2 days is visit this baby in the maternity ward who she finds out Nico has named Aiko (which means “beloved”).

Nico is finally discharged and Nozomi visits her often to help her around the house. A month after her birth, the doorbell rings and she expects the older woman to be there, but is instead greeted with red hair and amethyst eyes. Nico tries to make up excuses for her not to come in, but the redhead calls the baby by her first name so Nico figures out that Maki knows about the whole thing.

Maki has no idea how to act around a baby so she’s kind of awkward around Aiko the first few visits, but when the raven-haired asks Maki to carry the baby when she’s crying since Nico is busy cooking, she’s forced to do so. Aiko continues to cry and Maki slowly becomes distressed because she knows she’s doing everything wrong, but then she starts singing, Aiko quiets down, listening and actually smiling at the sound. Nico silently listens as well and, holy damn, she’s so damn in love.

The Heart’s Condition

It was hot. Extremely that it was almost surreal. But that wasn’t something that would stop them from practicing on the rooftop. It was just another day for them; they ignored the heat and the way the sweat on their skin rolled down their bodies faster and heavier than a regular day. No, they couldn’t mind it when they wanted to continue working to their ultimate goal of winning Love Live.

“Let’s take a break,” Umi suggested after they finished their routine for the third straight time.

“Yes please!”

Honoka and Rin immediately ran towards their water bottles hiding in the shade of the wall. The rest joined them after, enjoying the small breeze that blew past their skin as the two girls continued to chugged their water down.
