On this day, a year ago, @bat-incooking-school made @foodsafety-withmoxuanyu, of which I jumped on the chance to do something very funny by making @refutations-by-jiangwanyin! And from there it built into something much bigger and better than anyone could've imagined!

*Enveloped viruses have a lipid bilayer surrounding their core. This membrane is also where spike proteins are attached for example

Oddly enough, the answer is that enveloped viruses are easier to kill. Dissolve their lipid bilayer (with your standard household soap for example) and its game over for them.

Un-enveloped viruses need special desinfectants or be exposed to sufficiently high temperatures to be killed.

why is it that when im reading fanfic i feel like i have a fairly good metric for if something is characterized accurately but when im trying to write suddenly its like ive never seen this character in my life. would he say that. would he fucking say that. suddenly i have no idea

Sadly, tetanus is not transmissible between humans, so you cannot use this opportunity to advance our cause. The horrid vaccine will even work if you get it after the spores are already in your body!

If you're already showing symptoms, you can seek medical care. Pack a bag because you're going to be in the hospital for weeks to months 😊 If you're lucky they can manage your extremely painful muscle spasms with antitoxin and sedatives, and halt the spore growth with wound debridement and antibiotics. If your muscle spasms interfere with your breathing, you'll need to be on a ventilator. They might do a tracheostomy since you'll be on the ventilator for so long. You'll also need a feeding tube to get all the calories that your body will be burning through as your muscles freak out - if you've got the classic "lockjaw," you're not eating on your own! They'll keep you alone in a dark quiet room if light and sound are triggering your spasms, so don't think you'll be passing the time with entertainment.

You'll probably live. Hopefully your insurance covers physical therapy, since you'll need it to regain your muscle function!

The good news is that getting sick with tetanus does not confer immunity 🥳 So if you make sure to decline the vaccination they offer, you can do it all over again 😊
