Mr. Diaperbutt’s Big Boy Job
Lilly giggled as she stirred her tea, watching Adam waddle into the living room, his thick, crinkly diaper peeking out from under his tiny shorts. His pacifier bobbed in his mouth as he clutched his stuffed bunny, completely oblivious to the world outside his little bubble.
Rebecca shook her head, sipping her own drink. "I still can’t believe he used to work in an office. Like, actual adults trusted him with spreadsheets and deadlines. Can you imagine?" She smirked, her eyes flicking to Adam as he plopped down on the floor, immediately rolling onto his back and kicking his legs in the air.
Lilly snorted. "Oh, I can. He’d sit there in his little cubicle, all serious, pretending he wasn’t secretly counting down the minutes until he could go home, strip off his ‘big boy pants,’ and get back into something proper." She mimicked Adam’s old work voice, deep and professional: "‘Yes, sir, I’ll have those reports to you by EOD.’" Then she switched to a high-pitched, babyish tone: "‘Mmm, but first, num-nums and nap-nap!’"
Rebecca burst out laughing. "And now look at him. Mr. Diaperbutt himself, the king of sticky messes and pacifier drool. I bet his old boss would have a heart attack if they saw him now." She leaned forward, her tone dripping with mock sympathy. "Poor thing. All that stress, all that responsibility… and for what?"
Adam, hearing his name, turned his head toward them, his eyes wide and innocent. He pulled the pacifier out of his mouth with a wet pop. "Mmmf? Whassat?"
Lilly reached over and booped his nose. "Nothing, Cutie Pie. Just talking about how very important you used to be. Before you realized your true calling." She glanced at Rebecca, both of them grinning. "Honestly, sometimes i seems like a miracle he ever got dressed in the morning. I bet half his paycheck went to coffee just to keep him from napping at his desk."
Rebecca nodded sagely. "And the other half went to adult diapers. Because let’s be real... he was always a big baby. They just didn’t know it yet."
Adam cooed, kicking his feet happily, as if he understood every word. Then, with a sudden, mischievous glint in his eye, he rolled onto his stomach and started army-crawling toward them, his diaper crinkling loudly with every movement.
Lilly sighed, shaking her head. "Look at him. He’s so proud of himself. ‘Look, Mommy, I’m crawling! Aren’t I such a good boy?’"
Rebecca rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. "He’s lucky he’s cute."
Lilly laughed, reaching down to ruffle Adam’s hair. "Oh, he knows he’s adorable. That’s why he’s always got that smug little ‘I’m a baby and you love me’ look on his face."
And as if on cue, Adam grinned up at them, his pacifier back in his mouth, his eyes sparkling with the kind of joy only a truly content little could have.
