I’ve just ought to state that Player seems to mean a fair deal to the Postman.

Under the presumption of the game being the sole thing he wanted to protect, I honestly expected him to tell them they just needed to stay put, reiterate that he was made for this game and he’s willing to do things for it (in likely fear of being deleted). What I was not was him stating that he was made for the Player during that scene where he blows up at us, and of course, this scene.

The postman is ‘doing this to protect [them]’, in his own words, and that phrasing is just so interesting to me. Yes, the game is his world, it is his priority and he has been shown to be willing to give the Player’s wants up for its sake, but their presence is, too, part of his world. The postman truly only disobeys or goes off-script for the Player, they are part of the game, they are the Player. The sole Player of a dead game.

They have merit to the Postman, just as they have merit to the game itself (refer to the television, Nostalgic Hangout seems to be trying to keep one of their few players here, it is Smile that messes with these attempts via the… Everything he does). It’s why he’s doing things to save them, why he’s doing things to protect them, and why he tells them to stay.
