at a very young age, miel surana & her dalish mage mother had been chased down by templars. in the pursuit, she had hidden while her family was slaughtered. the templars still ended up finding her & immediately instated her in the circle. she spent the majority of her life there, never remembering much about her dalish heritage or the outside world.
by no means is miel naive or sheltered though, having been around her share of blood mages & people she cared for who didnt survive the harrowing. she happily jumps on the chance to escape w/ duncan & join the grey wardens. when she sees how much suffering exists outside the circle as well as within, she learns to focus her magic on healing to help those around her how she can. she's still open and curious to the world & people around her, cherishing every bit of this new world to her.
miel tries to make friends w/ the rest of the team, but morrigan & sten don't seem to like her much, leliana talks her into circles & never seems to give a straight answer, and alistair is FINE but has a distinct lack of zest. so when zevran comes along, he's something NEW & so open to talking about his past & where he comes from & WOW antiva sounds so far away. each night in camp, she spends the night by the dwindling campfire chattering away with him & realizing together how different yet similar their pasts are. they fall in love, the archdemon is slain yadda yadda, he would walk the world for her ten times over. also my dalish lavellan inquisitor is her cousin but they don't know that because of how young they were when miel's family was killed.
also she has no eyebrows & is super short & i love her dearly
