So I decided to start a little tradition on this blog of recommending fanfics I've read in 2025 because I want to spread the love to others. You're going to be seeing a wider variety of fics this year because I've gotten into a few new fandoms over 2025!

Insane or not insane- that is the question (AO3 Locked) by AlrightWhatsAllThisThen. You've all probably seen this one making rounds. For those who haven't, the premise is something I don't see often, and I love it. Jason, after being done with Bruce's lack of proper action with the Joker, goes off to become a forensic psychiatrist so that he can help legally put the Joker away for good.
one headlight by @bonerot19 (hi bones!). If you guys are a fan of my series, Red is the Color of Sinners, you'll love this fic. Once more, we have Jason in Hell's Kitchen after the batarang incident in UtRH, slowly being absorbed into the chaotic group that is Marvel's Defenders. This will be a series, but bones has been very busy with life. Regardless, go give it love!!!!
Strange sinners, strange little towns by tartaletkaaa. A fun, spooky one-shot, involving the wonderful pairing of Jason Todd & John Constantine investigating supernatural bullshit. It's eerie imagery and plot progression is very on par for Constantine mythos. For fans of Jason & John shenanigans or spooky DC fanfics, go give it a read!
Dinner in Hell by Wicca1707. Another fun, silly one-shot of Jason Todd being friends with Matt Murdock. The Batfamily is confused. Jason has other friends?? What else do they not know about him, and just how wrong were they about who they thought he was?
Save One for the Gargoyle by Margot_elizabee. Jason Todd, as Robin, manages to befriend Slade Wilson after said mercenary was about to attack him for revenge against Nightwing and the Titans. A very heart-warming father-son relationship spawns between the two as they both learn to heal from the wounds of their past.
The Ghosts of Wounds Past by secretlyeviloops. This is me were talking about, and it wouldn't be a fic rec list without some angst thrown in! Anyways, despite this being a one-shot, it's still enough to give one hell of a gut punch of emotional pain. Jason is quite literally haunted by his younger self, and keeps it a secret until a magical spell unintentionally gives his younger ghost self a living body. This has caused tension between the Batfamily and Jason as some of them see the younger Jason as a second chance, not realizing the pain they're causing the original...
The Lost Undead (AO3 Locked) by Wisetypewriter. Jason somehow gets sent back in time to he would've left for Ethiopia, and decides to say "nah, I'm doing my own thing." Bruce is a mediocre parent, Jason is best friends with Eddie Bloomberg, and All-Caste shenanigans ensue.
Saved by alexandria_library_of. This is one of those fics that makes me want to sink my teeth into because of how good it is. If you like Priest! Jason from Flashpoint, you'll love this fic. Instead of being found by the League of Assassins after his resurrection, Jason is found by a kind priest who helps him heal. Jason becomes a priest, and has a crisis after Bruce arrives one day in his confessional booth. Fair warning though, lots of heavy focus on Catholicism, so if you're not into fics that focus on religion this might not be your cup of tea.
Hellblazer: Grimm Exorcist by Shawnort. If there's one thing I'm a fan of, it's crossovers, especially ones that sound odd but work in the story. If you're a fan of John Constantine being an asshole bastard menace that goes and solves problems while causing chaos, you'll love this story. Constantine gets transported into the world of RWBY and begins to unravel the plot of a centuries long battle between forces. He then promptly decides to insert himself into the mess because he knows how to get shit done. I can't say with 100% certainty how fandom-blind friendly this is for people that don't know RWBY (I used to watch it when I was younger), but since Constantine arrives in Remnant with no idea about the world, there's stuff that gets explained.
you're always a runaway if they won't stop chasing you by @daisyapples. Dean Winchester x Jason Todd pairing. After Dean gets sick of his father's treatment towards him, he decides to leave. He settles down in Gotham, becomes Jason's roommate, and eventually falls in love.
Yes to Heaven by Apollos_Last_Prophet. SoapGhost fic. Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish is believed to have been killed while on a recon mission. In reality, he was taken by the enemy and brainwashed into being an assassin. He's saved when he's recognized by the very same commander who believed him dead. Fun fact, this was the very first CoD fic that got me into the fandom.
Pyre by @fixfoxnox. SoapGhostRoach ship. This fic constantly rotates in my brain whenever I pop back into the CoD fandom. Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson wakes up in a new world after dying in his last one. He remembers everything, alongside another soldier he befriends, Paul Jackson. Both get recruited to help Shadow Company, not realizing they were the sacrificial lambs for a mission. Unfortunately for Graves, Roach's namesake isn't just for laughs, and now he's on the hunt.
Something in the Orange also by @fixfoxnox. SoapGhostRoach ship. Another Gary gets reincarnated into the 2019 MW timeline with all his memories, he learns to navigate the new changes that comes from a different timeline while trying to get a handle on his feelings of love.
Human Tamed, Or is it ? by ShiniDai. Listen. I freaking love the "Humans are Space Orcs" joke. That's basically what this fic is. Ghost is the human and TF141 are the aliens.
a universe that doesn't care and people who do (Lighthouse) by @organchordsandlightning. Spoilers for up to season 2 of Malevolent. Kayne offers Arthur a deal: He'll free John from the King, but John will kill someone Arthur loves. Very fun AU Jarthur series with lots of delicious, delicious angst.
murder changes a man also by @organchordsandlightning. Parker Yang doesn't die in the beginning. He survives, but his soul is placed into the same book the Entity was in originally. After being unintentionally freed from his prison, he believed that his partner, Arthur, left him for dead and seeks revenge against the man he once considered to be a friend.
I Make Sail for the Dawn Till the Darkness has Gone (Parker Lives AU) by @captaincravatthecapricious. Another Parker lives fic rec! Listen, I desperately wished we had gotten a bit more of Parker. I feel like he would've been an absolute blast to listen to. Anyways, Parker managed to claw his way back from the Dark World, runs into Arthur, and learns that he and his new, strange friend, John, have encountered more than Parker is aware of what happened.
As I Learn to Love Myself (I Open My Heart to You) by everseekingsolace. Instead of being bound to Arthur, John wakes up in an empty body with no memory of who he is. After witnessing the arrival of John, Parker manages to convince Arthur to take on his case and try to uncover who he really was.
i know my soul will find you by @rosesofenvy. Spoilers up to Season 2 and Coda. Instead of John forgetting his memories, Arthur forgets who John is. Now, John has to manage not only a new place, but also convince Arthur to trust him enough to work together to get somewhere safe.
To Where the King Can't Reach Us by @therainbowtea. A fun crossover with The Magnus Archives, instead of John and Arthur ending up in the Dreamlands at the end of Season 1, they wind up in TMA universe.
soldier and prince (AO3 Locked) by @wlwinry. Castlevania Nocturn Anime Fic. Instead of Richter being raised by Tera, he's raised by Alucard instead. It's a fun little AU fic :)
Special Relativity (AO3 Locked) by @m0rphamagu5. I'm a huge Ghostbusters nerd. I loved the originals and Afterlife, so when I saw a fic that has the two interacting, I couldn't resist. Phoebe Spengler gets thrown into a different universe and into the past, right after the original Ghostbusters had just defeated Gozer. Now she has to figure out a way home.
Lost Parallax by @ghostvoi. RWBY fanfic that's Oscar Pine-centric. After getting shot out of the vault in Atlas during Season 7, Oscar finds himself somehow back into the past. In a desperate attempt to what's to come, he enrolls into Beacon Academy to try and warn Ozpin.
Soul of Love and Bravery by @mieswritingarchive. Another RWBY Oscar Pine-centric time travel fic. This time, Oscar is the age he would've been in canon at the time of season 1 (so around 12ish or so), and he gets in contact with Ozpin to try and prevent the events of canon's future.
What Lurks Beneath by @faustzen. A fun RE7 AU where Leon Kennedy is also in the plot to help Ethan out.
