Fyuras lazing about on a rock somewhere outside, because it’s warm and because she can. Occasionally looking up, turning her head towards the BLU and snorting at how ridiculous it sounds over there right now.

Yanno, after spending maybe a couple of moments around the people of BLU made her realize that she wanted to avoid them. Though, she did feel a distant, happy pang in her chest when she saw a familiar, long tail and slender frame.

She had to use all her willpower to resist running over there, so she wouldn’t startle the other (and potentially start a little mess), so she’ll quietly approach from behind and seat herself delicately on the rock next to Fyura. And when she tried to say something, all that came out was a small, weak ‘hello’. Perhaps the first time in a long while since she’s spoken to anyone. Let alone… someone that she hadn’t seen in quite awhile.

She heard her footsteps, hell. she even heard her breathing. and she knew that smell.. but it just couldn’t be… The hybrid lie still while Samantha situated herself beside her, waiting for what she could’ve sworn was a hallucination to do something. When she spoke, the ginger just… stared up at her, at a loss for words. Slowly, she pulled herself up into a sitting position and looked the engineer over before squeaking and pulling her into the tightest hug ever in the universe she could manage.

Maybe it was the lack of spending an extensive time around any sort of human being in the longest time that added to her awkwardness, but she could feel the want to collapse in on herself; to curl up in some sort of defense just in case this were to turn south at any moment for whatever reason. It was Fyura, after all -- ... she thinks it's her at least. Sometimes the lizard lady could be quite temperamental at times --

Oh wait, there's that little squeak and hug. Samantha tensed up for a moment, before fully returning the hug with as much strength as she could manage.

"... I thought you were dead..." No Samantha don't cry. "Heh, I shoulda known better..."

As of late, the little lady had been quite avoidant of the people around her in the workforce, opting to slave over her work instead. Being out of the loop with everyone did make her a bit nervous, but at least he was a new face. She wrings her hands, giving him a quick glance over.

"Good day, sir. T’is nice to see a new face around these parts — even better that you’re filling in for a class that we really needed." She offers a small smile and extends a hand to him. “My name is Samantha, and I’m an engineer here. It’s a pleasure to meet you Rick."

Timid was the first thing that came to mind when he first heard her speak. She seemed kind of distant, but some people were like that, and there was always a reason. Kindly, he takes her hand and shakes it gently, smiling back.

"Now aren’t  ya a polite one, eh? But uh, yeah, I’m the new Heavy Weapons Guy here. Heard ya guys needed some more support," he explained, pulling away as he crossed his arms. “Sam, eh? So ya do all that tinkerin’ stuff, huh? Seems a bit hard, but if ya need me to protect yer lil’ guns, you can definitely holler my name."

"Well, I wasn't raised in a barn, so of course I'm polite." Did you hear that little bit of sarcasm there, Rick? "I'm quite glad that you are here, yanno. We were in a bad need for some support." And another brightside is that he isn't disgusting or ugly either! It's a win-win situation thus far.

When he pulls away, she is quick to stuff her hands in her pocket so she wouldn't fiddle with them.

"I prefer being called Samantha, but Sammy works as well. Of course I do! But... eheh, I haven't been an engineer for very long. I just switched over from being a scout a couple of weeks ago." However, that next remark does earn him a small petulant eyebrow quirk. "Mm, I think I fair pretty well on my own so far, as far as protecting my machines wise... But I'll keep that in mind."

Samantha usually did her rounds in the field after battle was done, running about and inspecting the place. Sort of scouting the place, always in search of a better location to hide her sentry. At first, she nearly ran past Sheila, but upon registering that she didn’t quite recognize that face, she stopped in her tracks, backing up to get a good look at the other lady.

… Why the hell did she have onna those things in her lap?

"… What’s up with the bird?" Wait, no priorities here Samantha… "… An’ who’re you? I haven’t seen you around here before. I don’t think I have, anyways…"

Watching as the redhead hurried past before returning to size her up, Sheila felt herself internally shrinking inwards at the other’s stare. Upon being spoken to, the Australian looked down at her faithful companion with a small “oh" escaping her.

"Th-th’ ducks mine. ‘s called Nudge," she responded, looking back up at Samantha with a small (however extremely shy) smile, before cautiously extending a hand to shake hers. “I-I’m Sheila O’Kelly, I-I haven’ been here long… Engineer for th’ RED team… Yerself?" Nudge gave a quack as the attention his owner had been giving him dissipated, fluffing his feathers in an almost irate manner.

Samantha took a step back at the discomfort in the other engineer's voice, as though to attempt to not intrude or more importantly so she wouldn't leer. Though she did take Sheila's hand and give it a firm shake. "My name is Samantha Williams, engineer for BLU." She does her best to soften her gaze and give a smile in return, half reaching for the duck in Sheila's lap. "Would it be alright if I pet your bird-- er, Nudge?"

"Oh, do you mean you haven't been at Upward that long or are you new to the industries entirely?"

He hasn’t seen this many red heads in a while. If anything, all of them moved away to New York to be models or something. Though, with one look at her, she definitely had character. If there was something Rick always was, he was observant, but he usually didn’t want to prod about such things. Could be touchy for anyone.

"Greetin’s, lil’ Miss. I don’t exactly know what’s yer job, but I’d like to know. Uh, name’s Rick. The new Heavy ‘round here to help and all. 8)"

Sheila quietly observed the other from across the battle field, simply curious as to what the other was up to.
