As Seonho’s ancient car clunks its way into the parking lot, making a rather disparaging noise from its engine as it goes, Yewon practically makes one of her infamous high-jumps, a whole three feet into the air, and only holds back at the last second. Instead of the drastic move she does a cutesy running-in-place gesture, arms flailing wildly. She doesn’t get this excited for many things, anyone who knows her will tell as much, but ghost-hunting is one of those things that holds a timeless appeal to her. It’s as fun as a brand new book, the pages never folded, or hearing words in a language she doesn’t speak, or…or…
Or Seonho, himself. Who she’s sort of starting to regard as a cool uncle of sorts, by the by. This isn’t their first outing together, after all, and she thinks them rather close (though her definition of close is typically ‘someone she’ll let observe her in the midst of being awkward without running away directly afterward’, and therefore not as accurate as some people might otherwise define it). So when her heart does a little excited thudding upon spotting him, his arm sticking out the driver’s side window, it’s safe to say it’s because she kind of adores him.
“IT’S TIME FOR OUR ADVENTURE!” she hollers back, and yeah, she probably sounds a little childish, she’s probably upsetting some of the older folks that live on the bottom floor, but she doesn’t care. At least not right now. The passenger door swinging open is her signal, and she dashes over that way, sliding into the seat with her hand wrapped around the car roof’s edge. “Hi, hi, hi,” she singsongs, breathlessly, grinning at him, so brightly she could probably blind the already blind. “Where are we going? Is today the day?”
She’s been waiting to see a ghost for what feels like years. She hopes that she will today, prays with all her might. “Look, wait, hold on,” and she finally takes in the sight of her friend, “oppa, are you alright? Where were you last night? Was it fun?” It doesn’t appear to have been very much fun, and she wrinkles that spot between her eyebrows for a second. She’s stricken with the urge to get them something to eat, dipping into her tutoring money (what little of it there is) so they can have snacks throughout the hunt, and suddenly the notion of adulthood is dampening her spirits. So she pushes it aside, smile never once faltering. “I’m glad you’re here, I hadn’t heard from you in a little bit so I was concerned you’d forgotten me, or been taken to the other side or something.”
even with yewon being a few years younger than himself, he still felt at ease to be around her; they had a lot of fun together, and these ghost missions were a large part of that. he had promised her that she would be able to see a ghost one day - and he was going to live up to that promise, he couldn’t let her down! since she was younger than him, he felt obligated to protect her and make sure that she saw what she wanted. plus, it meant that she had a load more energy than him ( proved by the jumping, running and overall enthusiasm - it wasn’t that he didn’t also have enthusiasm of his own, but nothing rivalled yewon’s ).
he mimics back, rivalling her greeting with one of his own and grinning back at her, her own smile so bright that it practically lit up the whole car. where were they going? he had a whole adventure planned out for them for the day; there was a whole abandoned house that was just waiting to be explored ( though of course he had checked if it was safe first, he didn’t want them getting in trouble, or even injured ). he was sure it was going to be exciting for the both of them, and he was always trying to set up impressive things for yewon; he didn’t want her to get bored on their adventures after all, it wouldn’t be a proper adventure if it wasn’t at least a little exciting.
“ it’s a secret! you’ll see when we get there~ but i can promise it’s going to be a lot of fun. we’ll definitely see one today! ”
he hung his head in shame for a second. so she had noticed his slobby attire; it was bound to happen, but hey, at least he would be comfortable the whole time. he didn’t really bother with clothes all that much, valuing comfort high over style any day. but at least he had still showered that morning - that was something.
“ what? no... well-- i was out with some friends. but not for long. you can tell, huh? ”
it really was only a quick night out. there hadn’t been any drinking involved ( or, not much, only a glass or two ) and he had got back still early in the night. it hadn’t stopped him from getting out of bed in the morning so he would call that a success.
“ it’s nice to to see you again too! of course i’d never forget you, you’re my number one sidekick! i’ve missed having you on my adventures. ”
