“Learned from the best. Maybe it’s your presence that’s just inspiring my behavior. You ever consider that?” Cormac shot her a wink, his smirk sinful, and joined Hermione at the mouth of the alleyway. “A drink with a member of the Golden Trio? What did I do to deserve the honor? Should I call the prophet now or wait until our engagement is finalized to give them the good news?” He dropped an arm around Hermione’s shoulders, giving each side of the street a curious look.
“He has someone to blame. You. Brightest witch of our age or not, you need to learn how to pay some favors back or it’s all going to catch up to you. Don’t you want any allies in the Ministry?”
“Merlins balls, Cormac, You’re relentless.” she rolled her eyes, but his comments which once made her feel ill now humoured her and she shook her head at him with an amused smile. “Yes of course wait until we’ve released our engagement announcement, I’m sure otherwise people would be outraged.” she laughed, “Come on, it’s freezing.” Hermione started walking towards the pub.
“Pay favours back? Like letting him hunt species that will be endangered if the practice is kept up? I don’t think so.” Hermione hated the ministry politics like that, the whole ‘you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours’ drove her crazy. Why couldn’t people just do the right thing, there was always a trade that needed to happen. With a begrudging huff she looked up to Cormac “Of course I want allies in the Ministry.”
