Sometimes life was good, and others it was stressful. Sometimes, you just have too much going on. Today was like that. Right now, youâre placing down some painted rocks that were part of an art project that you did at the Smallville Daycare where you volunteer. The kids were so excited when you told them what you were doing, so they put in their hardest work on their art to make your garden pretty. In your hands sits a small painted rock. A big red heart with a white plus symbol in it, and on either side is yourâs and Clarkâs initials. There are little pink flowers taking up the rest of the empty space. You look up at him and then back down at the rock. âDid you paint this?â You breathe out.
âYes, for your garden.â He smiles. âI know Iâm no kindergartener, but I thought maybe youâd like a piece of us in it. And I was thinking you could put it next to the marigolds, because I know those are your favorite.â When he says this, a tear falls from your cheek and he immediately wipes it away. âHey, why are you crying?â He says softly, leaning to kiss your head.
âI-I just love you so much. Itâs perfect, Clark. Youâre perfect.â You meet his gaze as it softens, and the way heâs looking at you makes you lean forward to kiss his cheek and wrap him into a hug. He holds you, you hold him. Itâs a small gesture, this rock, but itâs meaning is big. Because Clark knows you. Like the back of his hand. And he loves you. And you love him. And neither of you are afraid to show it.
âCâmon,â You whisper. âLetâs go put this in the garden.â
