Gender neutral ways to address a crowd:

Now I'm sure that none of us are holding out hope for a *worthy* hypothetical television adaptation of the locked tomb series, but if it DID happen to come about my roommate and I believe we have cracked the code:
First of all, totally animated. We don't trust live action. Second, the style changes depending on the main character...
Season 1: total Arcane vibes. Everything is badass and grounded, JUST like Gideon would tell it. Things get a little weird when the season finale begins switching to Harrow's pov and-
Season 2: full traditional animation, hand-drawn, knights of Guinevere style. It dips disconcertingly into nostalgia as Harrow navigates the Mithraeum, and by the finale (and subsequent total breakdown of Harrow's mind) the animation gets JUST as bizarre and trippy as only traditional animation can get.
Season 3: Muppets. Alecto is the human
tazmuir could simply rerelease gideon the ninth over and over again but from the perspective of all of the different characters at canaan house and i would be tuned the fuck in. like the drama of all of their different expectations and relationships…. coronabeth living her hot girl summer… judith experiencing Sapphic Hell…. isaac and jeannemary on the world’s weirdest family vacation…. palamedes living out a deeply repressed regency era romance…. silas filled with loathing for every single person there…. delightful. canaan house drives me crazy. it’s like if love island was survivor
I know the points been made, but god damn, Gideon must have been terrifying for most of Canaan House. She is this muscle bound mute wearing half assembled skull face paint and dark robes, often skulking around the building with her creepy necromancer out of sight. The first time anyone sees her duel she doesn’t seem to register this as a sport and instead just bodies the other cavalier. She’s from a planet of weird monks and nuns who love bones and she is either so pious she took a vow of silence or care so little of everyone else that she simple has nothing to say. The moment things start to deteriorate amongst the various houses she and her necromancer are ready to tear shit up.
Then she opens her mouth and she is this dumbass jock who may only think about swords and boobs. 10/10 perfect character.
another objectively hilarious thing from gtn was that Harrow and Gideon were freaking out that someome will realise that Gideon isn't a real cavalier, that she has to use the rapier perfectly and not even think about her sword, that she has to be 100% obedient and loyal to Harrow and blah blah blah.
meanwhile Camilla also used the rapier only for show, Naberius and the twins were inches away from calling eachother stupid cunts and Protesilaus was literally a zombie
I love Gideon the Ninth because you open with Harrow and Gideon going into Canaan House terrified of having their Big Con pretending to be a normal necromancer and cavalier primary, right? Classic stuff, high tension, lovely. But by the end of the book you realize like half the group is doing this.
Cam and Palamedes have gone about this all the wrong way, they're probably only there to meet Dulcie frankly. Cam sticks out like a sore thumb because she's a damn good fighter but has never learned a fencing rule in her life and also they might be up for some light treason while they're flaunting the natural order of their binary gender roles. Then of course the Tridentarii and their pet Babs are there with an even BIGGER secret with HIGHER stakes and honestly they're doing a shit job at covering it up. But no one catches on bc they're too busy gawking Abigail and Magnus who aren't young anymore and can't be bothered to hide their taboo, rules breaking heresy.
Then there's Dulcinea—who, as you may recall,
Hey demons it’s ya boy sex pal
i love recommending the locked tomb to people. it's sci-fi. it's dystopian. the main characters are from pluto. it's a comedy. it's action. it's murder mystery. it's gay. it's necromancer body horror with a side of the body horror being about love. god is a tumblrista who likes barbie and left beef memes. the earth is a big beautiful woman with a sword. 90% of the people are evil lesbians. god also hates billionaires. he may or may not have possessed obama at one point in time. he was a twitch streamer. the most powerful necro of a generation wants a coffee shop meet cute with the girl living inside her head. the girl living inside her head likes porn mags written into skin. the final book in the series will probably be released after we die. a murderous masc and a greek twink became a guy named paul. literally why wouldn't you want to read it
The Body
Something something you come back wrong only to find out that the person you died for, your only true friend in the entire galaxy who lobotomized herself just for the slim chance it might preserve your soul, is changed beyond recognition by The Thing possessing her body. Does it pain you to see It grinning and laughing and loving in a body that should belong to Her and in ways she never could? To look in her eyes and see none of the hate/love/history/grief you once might've called home? To know that your allies chose to show It more love and care than She ever got?
(yes this is a companion piece to the ntn textpost I just made but Gideon pov cuz that book has so much trauma potential)
dress the corpse in pink
Alecto the Ninth for @tltfashionzine! I loved participating in this project and hope you like the result just as much
more coronabethhhh
Harrow and Palamedes entirely one sided bitter rivalry is actually one of my favourite parts of this book. She goes the entire time stressing about not falling behind him or showing a hint of weakness that he can pounce on because he’s her most concerning competition. She’s terrified of slipping up around him because obviously he’s judging her entire house as inferior and beneath him and she can’t even contend with him, she’s so far behind and he must be gloating so hard.
Then for a decent portion of the book every time someone dies she thinks he killed them.
Every time he talks to her she’s so paranoid about him trying to manipulate her into giving something away or otherwise screw her over, she never accepts that he’d want to work together for anything other than sinister reasons.
Meanwhile Palamedes is casually telling anyone who will listen that he thinks she’s an incredibly cool genius who is objectively terrifying because she’s so amazing at everything she does but also he’d trust her with her life because she’s honourable like that.
And he’d really like to be her friend but it’s no problem if she doesn’t want to call it that and would prefer to hiss at him from the corner like an angry cat. They’ll get past this stage eventually and then he can be nerd friends with the cool and definitely traumatised autistic girl.
Harrow Da Ninth
this isn’t how it happens
When I first met her I just called her First, One. She had a real name, but I buried it with her, and nobody says it anymore.
I’m not afraid of you now
