The change in posture and attitude of the man beside him shouldn’t have surprised him, yet it did. Hayden was an insidious presence; seemingly harmful until he finds something to take offense with. Mik just nodded in agreement, wanting to feel a small sliver of relief, but was too intimidated to relax just yet. Taking a deep drag of his cigarette before holding his hands up in surrender, “I didn’t mean anything by it, man. Just wanted to... settle some facts is all. No biggie.”
Mik scoffed softly at the offer, trying to sound as casual as possible and failing miserably at it, “Nah, it just reminds me of a lot of trouble. Trouble I don’t need, and that can stay the fuck away from me.” His hazel eyes scanning the other wearily, “My guy, relax. I’m honestly the least of your problems. If I wanted to do anything against you or your little peep-show here, I would have already done it. Concrete shoes don’t mean nothin’ to me, anyway.”
