Shared for the person that seeks to build knowledge about the future of music, for the musician. >>> We all know times are-a-changin' and the glory days of music distribution and marketing will soon be in the rearview mirror. As we all watch our collective standard for monetary compensation for musicians become a smaller and smaller dot on the horizon, many of us are asking ourselves... what now? I listen to streamed music at work, at home and even in my car. I have been exposed to so many painfully talented musicians, that sometimes it defines my day, certainly can help mold a mood. But how do they maintain and continue their journey without the gold standard? Although there were a few things I don't completely agree with and I question if the writers view of musicians is a tad narrowed in on certain genres; this was a beautifully written opinion and I greatly enjoyed the ride of reading it.

I couldn't sleep last night, so I went to the trusty book shelf to see what was there for entertainment... passing up Slapstick and Henry Miller I came to a book on dreams that my roomy owns. What could be more perfect to put your mind to rest than a book about mind resting? 5 pages deep I realize how much of a gem this book is! Both the author as well as the content are truly inspiring and well rounded in thought. The book is more of a "how to" decode and break apart your dreams vs. assert blanket descriptions or heavily rely on symbolism.
Chapter one teaches you how to write down and categorize, then analyze the different parts to a dream... also gives you handy tricks on how to remember your dreams. It suggests that you keep a note pad within arms reach. When you wake up, you are to remain in the sleeping position and write down your dreams... so I did just this when I woke up today. I had three dreams that I remembered. The first one I was dark and despondent. Most likely points to some negative feelings I have been experiencing lately. The second dream that I recalled was about toys!!! Mostly due to watching Toy Story 3 last night with friends. The third dream, that I didn't even remember till I reached my computer and started working, was really odd. In the dream I had two tattoos on each of my forearms done. Both were ninja turtles, haha... and both had my brothers birthday at the top. I remember in the dream that I was really apprehensive, and felt anxiety about my choice, and then when I realized that both arms had my brothers birthday I felt this flood of guilt about not recognizing my sisters birthday... it makes perfect sense, two siblings; two arms. Then the tattoo on my left arm morphs into her birthday!? This points to some feelings that I recognize in myself, but have not thought of or dwelled over for some time. The book mentions that often you will revisit feelings or specific dreams as you grown in way of life experience. Almost as if your inner energy understands that you might be able and ready to come to a resolution for some negative feelings. Very interesting book indeed! I'm super stoked to keep this dream journal and voyage on this path of self discovery through inner recognition and understanding. As the wonderful Alan Alda once said "You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself."

"I like how sleeping next to someone means more than sex sometimes. It’s the body’s way of saying ‘I trust you to be by my side at my most vulnerable time.’ You have no defenses when you are asleep, you tell no lies."

snap chill ahhhh
Captured a lil snapdragon flower (via rebelxs) that bundled up my feelings quite nicely.
Finally, a feeling of peace today.
I've been preh chill as of late, but this inner turmoil that seemed to have no real cause, has been dispelled! Crept out real stealthy, similar to how it seeped in. I could take the typical bree route and over analyze its residence (or lack there of) in my mind, but I think simply embracing the new will serve me better.
So... this blog thing will need some attention.
I worry too often and enjoy sugar more than I should... so I couldn't resist reposting this.
