She was conspicuous in that she was inconspicuous. Which was helpful for his purposes, but also rather strange. Like a bud amongst the variegated landscape of intensely-hued blooms. Which was as much analogous as it was the truth of it. The youngest of the Spring Court heirs, and Sindri’s newest interest. Which made her his interest, too. “I don’t mean to intrude,” he said, by way of introduction, as he approached her by her flower beds of pale lilies. “My mother asked if you might have a moment to spare her? Her gardens are in disarray, it would seem. And she wondered if a spring heir might aid her.” His lips turned up in a pleasant smile at the sight of her pretty mouth, her comely face, her verdant eyes that regarded him coolly. “I’m Ceallach. I don’t believe we’ve formally met, have we?”

Ceallach could feel the eyes of a thousand fae burning at the back of his head. Solstices were occasions to see and be seen, and few attending were as prominent remarkable amongst their number tonight as the Sun Prince himself.

He’d expected the attention. Sindri had broken his heart quite publicly this time, running off with one of Nitsa’s Summer sisters in some madcap romance recent enough that the news of it still passed, murmured in sensible whispers throughout the courts. And every millenium or so, the Sun Queen and her consort deigned to meddle in their only son’s affairs, this time in procuring a girl of some notoriety to be the panacea of all his heartbreak and woes: a wife.

Shiva was her name. Of snow, or ice, or some other facet. A daughter of the Winter Court. Little else did he know of her, other than she was present specifically for the occasion to meet him. Ceallach weaved through the crowd to to make his way to the dais, where a girl too pretty for such a sorry arrangement stood adorned in crystals and gossamers that shimmered like rippled ice.

Still wary and not entirely sold on the idea of gaining an instant wife, Ceallach approached, giving a courtly bow and a kiss to willowy fingertips grasped within his warm, heavy hands.

“It is an honor to meet you,” he said, with all the proscribed, mannerly charms he could call up. He straightened, gesturing to the dance floor, where a rubato waltz had begun. “Would my lady care to dance?”
