Later that night I got to go in an ambulance 🚑 Firstly Happy 18th Birthday Gracie, you deserve all the happiness you can get. ❤️ Secondly, I think this is a good opportunity to throw in a PSA: Being intoxicated is no excuse for potentially threatening someone's life. My night was abruptly ended last night after I was sprayed with Bushman's Friend - insect repellant, and then for a second time moments after, promptly triggering a severe asthma attack. Less than 10 minutes later my eyes had rolled back in my head and I had stopped breathing. I was fortunate that there was an ICU doctor around who acted quickly, calming me and calling an ambulance. Stabilised, I returned to normal breathing and was monitored, eventually let go into the loving arms of my parents. This potentially deadly situation was controlled due to the quick actions of everyone around me, and for that I'm truly grateful. But this completely avoidable experience has left me dumb stuck at how stupid someone could be, intoxicate or not. Not only can it provoke an asthma attack, insect repellant is deadly if consumed. Who ever it was that sprayed me probably doesn't care that my parents could potentially be turning off my life support today, but I'm hoping enough of you do to understand how important it is when drinking to still be in control of your actions.
