There was a blank expression on his face for just a moment. He couldn’t exactly discredit her response. After all, he was one of those millions of guests whose curiosity had been peaked. “The science is impressive, don’t get my wrong. But this ain’t like workin’ with crocodiles or lions or something. I mean, these are unpredictable creatures that haven’t been around. There’s no knowing how they’ll behave, right?”
“Perhaps not exactly, but these are the evolutionary ancestors of creatures that exist today. They have strong genetic correlations with species that we’ve been studying for hundreds of years. They’re larger, true– but less advanced. We have no reason to believe that they pose any sort of threat beyond mundane zoo- -logical hazards.”
“Mundane zoological hazards? Then tell me this. When was the lazy time you heard of a fifty foot lizard in any sort of zoo that could kill anyone it wanted to and can’t be brought down by even the highest firepower? I may not be a scientist or an expert or anything, but these wild animals? They scare me more than any war zone I could be dropped in.”
New verse for Jurassic World
Will be labeled as v: bottom of the food chain
Will get to starters for those who followed because you all are great.
I know I don’t say this enough but thanks for following me. it means a lot.
#Prattkeeping is getting big in the zookeeping community

The movement drew his mighty gaze, though it was the source from which this onlooker emerged that caught interest. Crocodilian jaws and neck turn to face not the reflective surface from which humans gaped and gawked at the warlord, but at the entryway below; behind the inner gate. Where spectator became intruder and was given a sharp hiss from betwixt grisly jaws.
Staggering strides did not go unnoticed and the beast named this one decrepit, weak–easy. Were there not a barrier with electrical tendencies between them, the spinosaurus would to end this one’s suffering and gnaw off the bit of his own hunger in the process.
Now this. This was fucking terrifying. Even after fighting oversees, this was beyond anything he could of ever imagined. The massive beast in front of him was straight out of the movies, except now it was real. It was there, in the flesh and completely daunting. The rifle in his arms suddenly felt entirely useless. Why he had taken a position as security here, he didn’t know. Maybe it was because the pay was good considering how high the risks were. This took it to a whole new level though. He was looking at a fucking dinosaur.
Max took a few steps back, slowly placing each foot down on the ground below him. He wasn’t going to get too close. Fuck that. This wasn’t an instance where you wanted to stick your hands through the bars at the zoo. This was a predator that would easily rip him limb from limb if given the chance. “You’re a big one, aren’t you?”
Max simply stared for a moment before the smile relieved the tension and he smiled back, nodding his head with a laugh. “Ah. Makes sense. Just was wondering because I didn’t think anyone could specialize in dinosaur medicine. At least not until very, very recently. Pretty impressive stuff though.”
“I agree, also pretty dangerous though.” Autumn nodded with a small smile. “Do you work here or are you just visiting? I just came on board so I don’t know many people around here.”
“Dangerous? Yeah. I think that’s a pretty good word.” More like fucking terrifying if one of those things ever got out. Clearing his throat, he offered his hand out to her. “Visiting for now but I applied for a security position, so maybe we’ll work together in the future. I’m Max Brandt.”
controllessa started following you
“I’m just wondering– who thought it would be a good idea to bring back predators that have been extinct for over 60 million years? Was that just a random idea, or a well thought out plan?”
“For that we usually credit John Hammond, the creator of the original Jurassic Park, and Simon Masrani, the driving force behind Jurassic World. They were instrumental in the process of cloning the dinosaurs, but they weren’t the only ones res- -ponsible. Bear in mind tha t there are and have been hund- -reds of brilliant scientific minds contributing to the cause, all of whom thought it was an excellent idea– not to mention the thousands of other staff, and the millions of guests we’ve hosted over the years…”

Max isn’t scared of very many things. In fact, if you ask him, he would rather be put in one of the containment territories with a carnivore while soaked in chum than come across the camel spiders he saw when he was deployed in Afghanistan.
He wasn’t bitter about the situation. In fact, he had grown to like it. Granted that was probably because all of his buddies had called him roboman when he was in the field hospital being treated before he could be flown out of the country for actual help. “I don’t mind. Adds character. That’s what my superior told me anyways. And I’ll never be able to break my left leg, so I guess that’s a plus?” When it came to what he had gone through, being positive was the only way he had gotten through any of it. War, heartbreak, home life. Negativity would of killed him faster than any war zone. The man let out a sigh of relief upon entering the cool room and soaked in the feel of the AC. Eyes closed for a moment to just take in in before he went to pull out his wallet. “Don’t have my social but I have my military ID if that works? Don’t really carry it around with me.”
“I can honestly say I like your spirit and your attitude more than I can say for some of the men around here.” Zara chuckled taking the cards and nodding. “That will work perfectly.” Reaching behind herself she grabbed the Samsung pad where they did most of the applications and handed it over to Max. “Go a head and get started I am going to do a quick copy and Ana will do your interview. It shouldn’t take any more than thirty minutes to do and I will be back shortly.”
“I’ve been through too much bullshit that if I let life get me down, I wouldn’t be alive. All about the mindset. People forget that.” He tapped his temple as if to remind where all the positive thoughts had to take place. Of course that was easier said than done. Max placed his wallet on the table before taking a seat, the tablet in hand. “Alright. Thanks. I’ll just started on this and sneak in Candy Crush every once in a while.” With a laugh, he began to fill in the different sections needed on the small screen in front of him.
“——–RUN !”
“Just a bit of a new concept. Little bit of adjustment.” Just a little bit. Even though it was one of the most technologically advanced marvels in the world at the moment. Dinosaurs. Christ, what his buddies would say right now. Walking along, he couldn’t help but glance around, eyes bright as if he were a child looking upon the sheer amazement. As a kid, he’d loved the stories and books about dinos, but he never thought he would of been able to see them up close. Focusing back in on the conversation, he glanced down to his leg and then back up to her. “From a blast, ma’am. Overnight firefight and got hit by a grenade. Nearly lost my leg but they were able to fix it up the best they could. Mostly metal in there now. Pretty nasty scar though and some burns to go along with it. Can’t hear out of my left ear either.”
He looked exactly like her brother did when coming onto the island for the first time. The awe and shock factor. Everything was like her own family back home, that for a small moment Zara missed them. She pushed the smile to her lips however and nodded slowly. “You’d think with all this technology with InGen they would be able to help with a situation like what you had to go through.” They could make dinosaurs but when it came to war and lost of limbs they couldn’t help. “Max. Call me Zara. I don’t mind in the slightest.” She bowed her head, moving inside out of the hot muggy air into the cool air conditioning. “Right this way. Do you have your driver’s license and social security card? I can make a quick copy of that and hand it back.”

I just wanted you to be proud of me.
“Ah, the hair. Right. Nothing says military like a classic regulation cut. Longer than it has been though.” Max was beyond the days of induction cuts and looking like his head was covered in stubble. “My name is Max, by the way. Forgot to say that. Sorry, kind of still taking everything in, you know? Dinosaurs.” He motioned to all around him with another laugh. If she was serious, he would absolutely apply. After all, it was a nice location and it would get him into the field again. It would mean that he would have a steady job and could bring his son out instead of the boy staying with his older sister. Finally, he could move on. “Yeah, I would love to fill something out. Lead the way.” Waiting until she had turned, he followed after her, his limp only slightly noticeable. “It doesn’t hinder me, I promise. It’s actually gotten a lot better.”
“Oh no trust me Max. I understand. There are days when I can stop to think long enough to take in this all over again. Never a dull moment on the island.” Zara only just then noticed the limp. “we might not be able to put ya in the keeper spot but we can certainly put you in security. Some of the dinosaurs can get a bit. Rude.” She didn’t want to tell him some could be down right aggressive. “If ya don’t mind me asking the injury you sustained, was it a bullet our a blast?” She was leading him straight to where the offices were for paperwork.
