This time last week I saw The Kills live...

...and there was one moment that absolutely melted my heart and every time I think about it I get warm fuzzy feelings. First off, the entire show was incredible. It completely blew my mind tank. Alison has posted on instagram the day before from Sydney saying she was sick with an ear infection and a chest infection, but despite that, her energy on stage was insane, and the chemistry between her and Jamie was so tangible it felt like electricity. Towards the end of the gig Alison dropped to her knees on stage and you could see her whole body heaving as she tried to catch her breath during one of Jamie’s solos. She had been giving it her absolute all and she looked relieved to have a moment to rest as she gazed over at Jamie as he played. He immediately noticed her, walked over, leaned down and kissed her on the forehead so tenderly, and her face immediately broke into the biggest smile as she jumped back up again and resumed her ethereal full-energy thrashing and writhing across the stage. Their love and respect for each other was so evident, and that gig was THE GREATEST GIG I’VE EVER BEEN TO! Definitely on the life highlights list!

An attempt at positive self-affirmation:

Been off the Tumblr radar for a while, trying to fend of what seemed like a million and one things that life was throwing at me to be a complete arse. 

However, in the last few weeks I have:

a) Passed all of my university papers before final exams have even started (how even? idk but it’s one hell of a relief let me tell you).

b) Moved in to a sweet inner city apartment above a record/coffee shop with the guy that owns the shop and his grouchy old deaf cat (I freakin’ love this cat, man. Like, I’m sure he is my spirit animal).

c) As a result of the aforementioned move I have found a new, hugely supportive friend in the guy I’m living with. We share the same interests and values, music taste, movie taste (although his British comedy education needs some work), and I genuinely feel happy coming home every day knowing the company and conversation is going to be just what I need to pick me up!

d) Treated myself to tickets to see The Kills play at the end of July - nothing like a bit of live music and the opportunity to drool over the sheer brilliance that is Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince to feed the soul!

and finally, e) I have realised the importance of maintaining a balance between study and doing the things that relax and calm me. I’ve made a conscious effort to dedicate more time to art, reading, and just life in general, with no detrimental effect to my study progress or grades.

All in all, I think I have turned down a pretty good path and hopefully I stay on it for a while!

Bowie lyrics punctuation help please!

It is vitally important that I get the correct punctuation of “oh no love you’re not alone” (the greatest Bowie lyric of all time) before I commit to the final design for my next tattoo… My tattoo artist and myself have thus far come up with (and disagreed over):

Oh, no love! You’re not alone! Oh no, love! You’re not alone! Oh, no love, you’re not alone! Oh no, love, you’re not alone!

You get the idea, it would be immensely appreciated if I could get some more opinions/input! Thank you wonderful people x

I’d recommend the second or the fourth. Grammatically speaking, the fourth is probably the most “correct” as it situates “love” as an appositive phrase amid the full independent clause. But “Oh no” could also be considered an introductory phrase to the exclamation “love!” and still leave “You’re not alone!” as a functional complete sentence.

In any case, I love this and I do hope you’ll share the final piece with us! Normally, I’d avoid being this obnoxious about grammar, but I totally understand wanting to get it just right for that level of commitment. Hope that helps! Can’t wait to see it!

Thank you so much! That helps a lot! I don’t usually get this picky over grammar either, but I figure if it’s something that is being inked on me forever I really would like to know that it’s correct!
