Angel + Being Buffy’s Biggest Fan™
(Part 1)
I love how literally every character who ever sees Buffy and Angel interact is immediately Cursed with the knowledge that they are soulmates who will never be over each other. Almost no one is happy about it and a lot of them would do almost anything for it to not be true but it just... is. It's so obviously, overwhelmingly true that denying it would just feel too ridiculous even to characters with a vested interest in believing otherwise-- like every single one of their other love interests. It's honestly so funny, especially when there's a mix of characters who Know and characters who Don't (even if it's been explained to them, the never really Know until they witness it), because there's this gigantic, awkward, tragic, deeply inconvenient elephant in every room that only some of them can see.
an undeniable proof that dawn summers, in fact, was a lesbian
I don’t know if anyone agrees with me on this but I’m kinda obsessed with willow’s villain design. Like. It’s so plain. So boring. So performative. It’s something that’s constantly reoccurring in Willow’s arc; the idea of her wearing a costume to be/present a certain way. The first real example that I can think of off the top of my head is Halloween (2x6). Willow tries to gain confidence by putting on the costume of it, but chickens out and wears a ghost sheet instead. It wasn’t until the spell hit where she started to actually become this (she’s telling orders, being assertive, shutting it down when someone would go over the line). Willow’s playing the part. We’ll see this quite a few times more, most especially in Restless (4x22) (which along with Conversations With Dead People (7x7) is in my opinion one of the best episodes for digging into who exactly each character is) and will come to a sort of totality here, with her arc right now. I’m not particularly partial to the magic as an addiction storyline, and willing to forget it for a moment and look at it instead from an abuse of power, it falls much more in line with the Willow we know.Willow is someone so desperate to fix the things around her for everyone that she goes to far. wants to be useful, and in doing so she puts people at risk. With this outfit it’s the costume motif all over again, as such like in restless she’s scared everyone’s gonna see the “real” her, the “hidden” her beneath the girl she’s become. She puts on all black and she plays the part of the villain, of the grieving widow in black. She’s in costume!! Like someone else may have more to say but. I. Willow. WILLOW ROSENBERG —
I've gone. Not one for goodbyes, I thought it best to slip out quietly. Love to you all, Giles.
Rest in peace, Anthony Stewart Head (1954 – 2026)
