thin arms come to wrap around her husband's body and her face is gently pressed up against his back. she's silent in her approach, if only for the reason that she wants to enjoy a small, quiet moment with him. moments like this are often few and far between due to the busy life she lives and the things he has devoted himself to, so she takes the chance while she can, sighing blissfully in content as she nestles into his warmth.
he’s lost somewhere within his thoughts, a reverie amplified by the soft spring breeze dancing along the skin of his arms. he’s caught within the trap of just how he ended up here: a father, a married man, a warrior with a different purpose. a purpose that all guided him back to them. he’s come a long way. he’s fought, tooth and nail, blood and skin, for superiority but this…them…her…he’s not complaining. a father. a married man. never would have considered this a possibility in his diabolical plans. a father…once a curse upon him, one he refused to acknowledge and now…he can not fathom life without the boy. a father…surely he won’t ruin it a second time.
it’s her that breaks him from this reverie. arms curled around him and the soft sound of her inhalation, the small bump of her belly pressed against his back…yes…what a time for redemption. how many chances has he been given? to not take it once more would be sin itself. he leans into her embrace, hands braced upon the balcony’s railing, the crook of lips rising. he was once one of the villains, who knew he’d end up here.
