DATE OF BIRTH / AGE. january 10th, a capricorn / antonio is between his mid to late 30s in all verses. ROMANTIC / SEXUAL ORIENTATION. heterosexual. antonio la russo was born to bruno and maria la russa (née lombardi) in tuscany, italy and into one of the most prominent crime families. despite his mother's wishes, antonio's father was involved in the criminal scene and was his uncle alessandro's left-hand man alongside his other uncle, vincenzo lombardi. however, one night after a bad heist, his father was killed whilst trying to escape, leaving his mother a widow with a 6 year old child. with little interest in remarrying, and due to her brother's guilt, maria and antonio move into alessandro's mansion where antonio had grown up. when alessandro wanted to move to the united states to expand their business, maria and antonio came with him. as antonio grew up, he started to look to alessandro as a father figure, considering how much he'd taken care of him and his mother financially.
growing up in a family like theirs had its problems, as most families often did. his mother tried her best to shield him from the problems and the people alessandro brought around the house, these men in suits whispering about their plans, mentioning all sorts of objects like artwork, jewels, and occasionally, gold bars and cold hard cash, by enrolling him in all sorts of activities, depending on what he'd found interest in. as he got older, he saw going to the gym and sports as an escape from the secrets that seemed to loom over his home, and when he was a bit older, on his sixteenth birthday, his uncle called him to his office and told him of his plans to leave antonio with everything the family business entailed, from the legitimate business of lombardi motors, a leading car manufacturer based in italy, to the criminal side of the company that is their family's heist club and the hold it has over tuscany as it oversees criminal occupations in the city. antonio realized then that his life, while beautiful and filled with the privilege of private schools, galas, and other high society events, was a product of dirt and blood. he also realized that he would be taking part in this, that this was his purpose.
his uncle then put him through rigorous training, hiring a personal trainer that would ensure his capabilities would meet what was required of the lifestyle he was going to have. all the while, antonio and alessandro kept this a secret from maria, with them both knowing that she wouldn't approve, that she wouldn't want this for her son, that she didn't even want it for her late husband. eventually, antonio began joining his uncle on heists while alessandro had maria convinced that he was training his nephew to lead the company one day.
over time, antonio became good at the various skills required to perform a heist successfully, and eventually, the trail of bodies started. antonio's first kill was after a job that had gone wrong. another heist club got to the target and alessandro found out there was a mole in their crew that was feeding intel to another family's club. with alessandro not being a fan of disloyal members, antonio was ordered to perform the execution, and so he did. the rest of his kills were similar, though he didn't particularly enjoy any of them. instead, he'd steeled himself. in this world, it was either kill or be killed. the choice was easy. he would always come home to his mother.
now, after the fall out between his uncles after the discovery that vincenzo has a secret family, antonio has taken the role of chief financial officer for lombardi motors. he continues to perform heists for the heist club as well, taking over the role of his uncle's right hand man, often overseeing thieves they contract to work a job, training, and actually leading the heists. the criminal aspects aside, antonio has made quite a reputation for himself in the high society scene in both new york and tuscany. he's been branded an eligible bachelor, a playboy of sorts, though he's never intended to take on this role. he's well liked for his polite and respectful, if not oddly distant, nature, coupled with his attractiveness and the natural ability to charm those he intends to have that effect on. he's also known for being difficult to keep settled down, though this is because he knows he doesn't deserve love in its purest form. secretly, he yearns for the life his mother wanted for him, one where he can see himself married and raising children, somewhere far away from this world and his life. but ultimately, he steels himself and does what other people want for him, find it to be his only purpose in life, as though taking the easy route and sacrificing your own happiness were noble.
