Daemon & Rhaenyra have a ton of great scenes but I think one of my favorites is the brothel. You see words like manipulation thrown around about that scene and while there is definitely some manipulation going on that’s part of what makes the scene so fascinating. Daemon starts out intending to manipulate Rhaenyra . But that doesn’t change the fact that Rheanyra is there because she wants to be.

Rhaenyra is about to be thrust into marriage. She is eager to explore her sexuality and when the only man that interests her leads her down to the bowels of a brothel she happily follows. The first several shots is just her taking in what going on around her and seemingly being interested. As she gets closer to Daemon and we hear the voice over say “we can take what we want” it’s clear (to me at least) that what Rhaenyra wants is Daemon

I really love the way their first kiss is shot because it’s very clear that Daemon seems to be allowing her to make the choice for herself. Does she really want to do this? And she does. I think regardless of what Daemon’s motives start as Rheanyra REALLY wants this. I think that’s an important point that gets missed and when you remove that fact you also remove Rhaenyra’s agency.

I think of my favorite parts of this scene is how soft Daemon is with her. It’s such a contrast to the type of coupling going on around him but the way he cups her face is so gentle. I think at this point is when things get muddled for Daemon. He’s over come with his own feelings. I do think he tries to reign those feelings in and that’s why he turns her around and attempts to control the situation by reverting to the way he’s coupled with other woman. But Rhaenyra is different and she takes that control back.

I think once he’s looking at her in the eye he knows that he can’t go through with it. But what I find so interesting is he doesn’t let go of her yet. He stops her from escalating things further but he leans into her and places his forehead against hers. I think for Daemon this is an acknowledgment of those feelings he has for her. On some level he understands what he’s feeling. I think ultimately that’s why he leaves frustrated. He wants to be with her but his guilt from his original intentions are stopping him.

"Lord Corlys sails for dragonstone" - Daemon: " TO DECLARE FOR HIS QUEEN" *heart eyes* Targaryen 1x10

ahhaha Daemon was like a fluffy ball of love, joy and pride as he said that, he is so proud of his Rhaenyra and loves her to death, despite his impulsiveness and short-temper, DAEMON REALLY IS A SIMP FOR RHAENYRA, look at him

everyone standing there with serious faces, and Daemon is willing Corlys sailing to Dragonstone to declare for his wifey Rhaenyra to BE TRUE. Look at how happy and proud he is as he's saying Corlys is sailing to Dragonstone TO DECLARE FOR HIS QUEEN loudly, not doubting Corlys could not declare for her for a second because queen Rhaenyra is obviously everything and ofc everyone who's sane must understand :D :

there's no one who'd be a BIGGER fan of Rhaenyra than Daemon, for real :D he's so devoted it hurts

And Rhaenys is just 1000% done with with Daemon-we've got dragon Maelys too-Corlys is gonna declare for his queen Rhaenyra, also, this is Rhaenyra, my queen, my wifey, her grace"-Targaryen :D

Rhaenys is constantly trying to make it clear that nothing is so sure when it comes to her and Velaryon support, she seems to be reluctant, she often repeats it's not her war. + Rhaenys STILL thinks Daemon and Rhaenyra off-ed Laenor just to be able to marry Old Valyria style and get it on and have babies asap, and all that RIGHT AFTER the death of her children, their former spouses

-> which is also probably making Rhaenys question how much Daemon/Rhaenyra loved/respected Rhaenys's children.... (ofc this is not something Rhaenys can forget. But then again, Rhaena is being raised by Rhaenyra+Daemon, and both Baela and Rhaena are Rhaenys' blood and they love their daddy and at least Rhaena totally seems to be bonded with her step mom Rhaenyra, she is all smiley around her, gives her wine right after Rhaenyra comes to the room, Rhaena seems to genuinely care:") it shows Daemon+Rhaenyra have been loving and caring parents to all their children )

ANYWAY, right after Rhaenys expresses hesitance over the idea of Corlys declaring for Rhaenyra, Daemon's face changes instantly, look at this manchild :D

Daemon DOES NOT like anyone raining on his 'Rhaenyra my wifey queen' parade :D he does not like or accept a reluctant or even hesitant reaction to declaring for his wife queen

DAEMON "Come with me Jace, i'm gonna show you LOYALTY" Targaryen

DAEMON "I'm presenting you with a CHOICE, knights - swear fealty to my wifey Rhaenyra OR swear fealty to my wifey Rhaenyra.

^^ and i think everyone on Dragonstone already knows that Daemon is a simp for his wife :D bet they've seen him like this way too many times already

So yeah.... Daemon is impulsive, he can be cruel and heartless and just plain violent to literally ANYONE, /and the showrunners believe he can even be short-tempered with Rhaenyra (in critical life-threatening situations when under stress and after painful losses of their baby/brother/father, and under pressure, when overcome by fear for the safety of his family's lives.)/ but it's absolutely clear that he LOVES HER TO DEATH and would kill for her and die for her, would go anywhere for her and would do ANYTHING to protect her and their kids.

And THAT (among other things) is why we all adore this malewife Daemon Targaryen.

Still one of my favorite moments this season and i think you could put this picture in the louvre because just look at it?? The asthetic, the pain, the desire

There where so many scenes and wins for our little daemyra nation but I still think about the way rhaenyra said "take me to dragonstone and make me your wife" and daemon grabbing her, despite people watching, despite this was her wedding party, dispite viserys almost choking on his fucking chicken. The way he holds her face, the eye contact like think what you want but he would have fucked her right there, wanting her to scream his name, needing to hear that he is the only one, like horny jail for him immediately. He would have taken her to dragonstone "the hours past swiftly" the pain of knowing that he can't have her, no now, that after this there where 10 years of yearning and depression. She was so young there, provocative, angry, they where so god damn obsessed wich each other in that moment and she thought he left here for some whore but our chaotic prince just tried to get so drunk that he would forget the feeling of her lips on his. He asked viserys for her hand, got exiled once again but came back for her. The obsession, the desire, the longing. Older rhaenyra and daemon are our domestic dream but this scene will always be special, they where down for each other so bad and the sweet pain of knowing that it was not yet there time but that both of them were wild awake at night after this thinking about each other, being separated, a wound that never stopped bleeding, not until their beach walk

When Voldemort had looked back at her for that very short moment before stepping through the door, the bright moonlight had landed upon his eyes at the perfect angle, illuminating them flawlessly — beautifully.

They had been an electrifying, unguarded blue — like the darkest edges of her nostalgic bluebell flames. Poignant and raw.

Something undisclosed had lingered in those eyes, arrested by time, before they shifted back to the colour of blood, glinting at the edge of a blade.
