phoebe winter:
“Nope,” she said, popping her ‘p’ exaggeratedly. “I’m feeling like a ‘take what the universe gives you’ kinda evening, and it looks like you’re it. You in?”
––
Calla felt her brows raise, she allowed herself to relinquish control over that reaction. Swiftly, she smirked and nodded slowly, as she wore an inquisitive expression across her face. The blonde quirked her brow momentarily as she posed, “Tell me more.”
leona landry:
Her pleading expression fluctuated between relief, and reluctant skepticism. Voice low, she cast one more weary glance to the foreboding hallway. “But what if they like… Deep Blue Sea it? You know that bit where Stellan Skarsgard gets kind rammed into the glass and the whole thing comes crashing down?” She asked, then immediately regretted explaining it. “Or maybe that’s a bad example. The whole movie is nonsense but…” She chuckled, bowing her head and looking back up at Calla with lingering embarrassment. “I should’ve just said yes. Yes please. Unless you’re scared, then we totally bail.” She added, flashing a grin at the other woman, who seemed to not be scared at all.
––
“I mean, we could totally bail but, getting over shit is good for building character. It’s been years since I’ve been here, I’m walking through. You with me?” Calla smirked and gestured with her head towards the entrance. The blonde was totally cool on the outside; a calm exterior but, she was suddenly reminded of that movie and was second-guessing herself and her choices, “It’ll be fine, I’m sure. Those glass plates are thick A.F.”

—Open Starter @crescentstarters Location: Literally anywhere
Most nights, Phoebe was happy to snuggle up on the couch with Timmy, her fuzzy socks, and yet another true-crime documentary, but sometimes, it was important to let loose. She’d just finished up her latest case, and while tomorrow she would worry about finding the next one, tonight was for celebrating. “Okay, I stole a bottle of my dad’s booze like it’s senior prom, and I’m ready to party!”
Calla had been out walking, trying to clear her head from whatever shit show was happening at the Blackwood’s company, that she’d been roped into solving for them. It really wasn’t something she was enjoying doing, per se, but it paid her rent and she got to be in the midst of the biggest family drama she’d imagined. She happened to stumble upon Phoebe while grappling with her purse to find a pack of cigarettes; that’s a bad habit you need to kick, her grandma would have told her, in Swedish. She glanced over the obviously inebriated woman and smirked, “Are you waiting for someone else...?”
skylar baudin:
a short and sweet starter open to everybody @crescentstarters
location: somewhere that sells coffee within a few blocks of the hospital
“If the hospital coffee wasn’t such shit, I would not be here,” Skylar mumbled out toward the other person while taking a sip of freshly brewed coffee. Having to use her non-dominant hand felt like an out of body experience and she wasn’t sure what to make of it. Except that she loathed it with her entire being. Her left arm was currently immobilized in a sling, a bright pink cast covering the entirety of her wrist. “Also, I’m really not supposed to be here at all, as in I was under strict orders.” She slightly rolled her eyes, hating being told what to do. So this was her way of being spiteful, the good coffee simply an added bonus. “But – two can keep a secret if one is dead or something like that…”
––
Calla took in the scene before her and tilted her head to one side, there were still some times when she didn’t get certain syntax or colloquialisms, or even just when people talked quickly. She’d been speaking English for as long as she could remember but, growing up in a Swedish-Irish household, where grandma spoke only Swedish and daddy (and some of the sibs) used Irish Gaelic, it got confusing to be using three languages at once. The blonde gave a nod, however, “I feel like that’s basically a requirement for hospitals; for their coffee to taste like shit. It’s pretty much a norm across the globe.” Calla blinked at Skylar when she added her final comment, and she allowed her eyes to widen like saucers, “Ex--cuse me?” She choked out, “Did you just -- are we going on a stake-out, or something?”

OPEN STARTER
She blamed her lifelong love of movies for her fear of sharks. The ocean wasn’t off limits, exactly – but there was a long list of places Leona would go first. The aquarium seemed nice and safe – until she got to the shark exhibit. More accurately, she got to the hallway labeled ‘shark exhibit,’ and now she was half-pacing just outside of it. “We’re safe. I mean, that glass has got to be super thick, right?” She asked, looking at the person nearest to her, brows knitted together in a gentle pleading. “Right?”
––
The blonde, who’d been in the town for years, having grown up there and left for a brief stint at college, turned and shook her head, “You know, the sharks here aren’t about to Jurassic Park this shit, so I think you’re good.” She beamed, “Also, you have to get through there to get to the exit, so...” Calla winced a little, “I can walk with you, if you want?”
victoria zhao:
location: somewhere near hemlock docks
when: may 8th, early evening
status: open | @crescentstarters
— If Victoria knew that they’d have to handle their car breaking down right in the middle of the street during rush hour, then they would’ve probably taken an Uber to this meeting. Thankfully, they were already on their way home, but, their car breaking down postponed their plans for a bit. And to make things even better, their phone had died literally five minutes ago, so they couldn’t even call their partner and ask them to pick Victoria up. Stepping out, they popped up the hood and sighed while waving off the smoke coming out from that bunch of metal. Upon noticing someone approaching, they ran their fingers through their hair, and swallowed their pride in order to ask for help.
“Do you know anything about cars? Think you could help me?”
––
Of all the days for her to forget her keys; of all the days. Calla was having the toughest time between work, developing her skill set and everything in between, and she just had a dozen extra things on her mind, so, of course, she forgot to grab her keys from the side table. with the tiny billow of smoke she saw as it radiated from the stationary vehicle, Callie knew that whoever was behind her hood was also not having the best of times. The young blonde stopped and turned, “I know nothing about cars but, I can wait with you until help arrives.”

niall walton:
Open to: Everyone Location: Somewhere Downtown
It has been three months now, three long and annoying months without his brother, and now with Niall taking over the family business. The Waltons were old money, with their multiple farms around the area, and even with all the ignorance Niall has been getting from his dad, he still is trying his best to keep things going. Sometimes is still hard for him, he had a life out of Crescent Harbor and had to give up on almost everything to come back to town after so many years. He was tired, but as usual, there he was, enjoying his weekend by a local bar, having a couple beers with his suit hanging by the chair and enjoying some moment of social, it has been a while since last time he went out, his party boy side was begging for some alcohol and good conversation.
There were this Baseball game going on apparently, all the tvs were streaming the game and more than half the people by the bar had their eyes focused on it, Niall didn’t knew much about baseball so he was mostly on people watch, the person sitting nearby apparently were doing quite the same as some guys celebrated something about the game and they didn’t even looked at the tv. “You don’t seem to be watching the game, thanks, that actually made me feel like I’m not the weirdo here.” He nodded at them with a short smile. “Don’t know a thing about baseball.”
––
Callie knew the town like the back of her hand, even with having moved away for college and returning some years later, still lacking the essentials to be approved by her parents. She knew the best places for greasy food, cheap beers, quiet places to getaway to if you wanted your own company. Still, she happened upon this particular establishment out of pure coincidence; and a developing interest in the exterior - she was almost certain it had been something else before she’d left the town.
Callie enjoyed a quiet drink, it gave her time to reflect and decompress whatever shit-storm she’d had to deal with during the day but, that evening, with the goddamn baseball, she could barely think about anything other than the constant cheering and shouting at the plays. So, she basically succumbed to the atmosphere. After a brief celebration on the larger group of friends’ account, the blonde turned to the neighboring patron and nodded emphatically, “Those guys can never know. We’d be tossed out on our asses.” She smirked, “Just cheer when they do, curse when they do.”
