the apartment scene has SO much subtext tbh like there’s so much to unpack

 1. bucky just found out he is an international fugitive. he also thinks that steve thinks he was the one responsible for the bombing

 2. steve has been looking for him nonstop for two years and bucky has been staying purposefully hidden from him. if bucky admits he remembers steve, he’s admitting he’s been willingly avoiding his best friend 

 3. steve was reading bucky’s diary, and bucky has no idea what part of it. steve, a stubborn bitch, asks questions that he knows the answers to, bc he wants bucky to admit it (admit what? that he saved steve bc he loves him? that he still loves him?) 

4. they’re both mad at each other. steve is mad bucky has been living in Romania (fairly settled) while he’s been running around, head up his ass, chasing him. bucky is mad that steve is there bc if steve is around him, steve is in danger

 5. all the looks they were throwing at each other Oh My God

 6. steve, as a kill squad is literally stomping up the stairs, getting emotional and wanting bucky to admit how much he cares for him LMAOOOO and bucky is just like sweetie I love u but this is not the time.
