âI am nothing if not a miracle worker,â he chuckled, watching her smile for the first time since heâd arrived and what felt like months already. It didnât matter that they talked every day or that they skyped as often as possible, nothing could compare to the real thing that he saw right then. Everything was better when they were together, rather than apart, and he needed her to see that he was in this with everything he had. He was there for her, for their kid, for everything even if it meant having to fly across the country every weekend, heâd do it.
âNothing at all? That sounds to me like a challenge.â He managed to push open the door open to her bedroom, finding Django at the door barking at him excitedly as Ray continued to maneuver them into the room. âDid you here that pup? Your mom here thinks that thereâs nothing I can say or do thatâs gonna change her mind, do you agree?â He waited for another happy bark before he was meeting her eyes once more with a grin. âHe agrees with me, two against one that Iâll be able to convince you somehow that Iâm allowed to stay.â He kissed the tip of her nose, whispering softly as he dropped to his knees on the bed with her still in his arms. âJust watch me.â
Camila rolled her eyes at his comment about it being a challenge to him, though she couldnât help but grin as well. As quickly as the anger had come to her, it was gone and all she could focus on was how happy she was to have him home despite the fact that she would practically have to force him out of the door the next day to make sure he actually went back to work. She wanted to be as selfish as she could be and tell him to stay home with her for the remaining eight months or so of the pregnancy, but she was anything but selfish.
âYou know, a happy bark doesnât mean he agrees with you,â she pointed out, sending a quick glare in the dogâs direction as he was happily wagging his tail and waiting for the two of them to pay more attention to him. âYou can look at me like that and sweet talk me all you want but Iâm not going to give in, not a chance. Try me.â
