Tonight, the sky will stain red.
Damon’s tendencies diverted anything that made him feel, a defense he harbored for the better half of 200 years. Not giving anyone the chance to instill any effective emotions on him like his father had done in his human years – With that said, it didn’t take affect 100% of the time as it used to in present day. Humanity was a vampires greatest weakness!
Tonight the illuminating crescent moon hung within the misty clouds under the influence of the pitched black sky overhead, the road he currently laid flat on would hold the worst end of his mood. He had his issues, his struggles more so than formally so he took no guilt in his presence upon Route 23 that lead at the border of Mystic Falls. They were merely strangers, walking blood bags - no one he cared about or allowed any words to slip through to be any more than incoherent mutters.
His currently status was sponsored by mass consumption’s of alcohol as he fixated on the feel of the gravel shifting beneath his body as a car approached, high beams flickering low as its wheels came to a sudden halt. An erratic heartbeat thrummed in the drivers seat before getting out in approach towards him.
His movements showed only inhuman and unexplainable actions as he shifted to suddenly appear before the women, pinning her against the drivers side door by the shoulders “Nothing personal” he muttered in a mysterious and almost strained tone as his features changed as the devil inside him rose to the surface and replacing any feature that was human with something twisted from reality. His fangs produced out as he shoved her head back against the roof of her car, leaning in to take his next victim when another set of headlights took notice of them, distant but he couldn’t be bothered chasing down witnesses… He looked back to the startled women and growled under his breath in frustration as he connected his gaze with hers, compulsion lacing every word he spoke “You’re going to go on your merry little way and forget this ever happened” he assumed his compulsion took effect, she wasn’t a folk from around here so he simply checked out of the vicinity and headed to the Mystic Grill.
it was good to come back to mystic falls. sure , checking out colleges was kind of fun , but there was no place like home - especially when there was unfinished business that had to be taken care of. in serena’s case it could only mean one thing ; family problems.
maybe it would’ve been for the best if she just left , but the distance between her and her family taught her that she couldn’t do that. not until things were sorted out , anyway.
the hybrid smiled to herself while her foot hit the gas - driving was so much fun. it was a clear benefit of her most recent growing spurt. what she did not expect , however , was for the fun to be ruined by a body in the streets.
“ damn it ! ” serena hissed as soon as the car stopped and she jumped right out of it, calling to the male. “ hey , are you okay ? ” it was a question that was not answered - or well , maybe it was. just not with words.
the brunette gasped when a strong grip pinned her against the car and she narrowed her eyes once she recognized his face. it made sense that he couldn’t recognize hers ; she was just a little girl the last time the two of them met. “ trust me , you don’t want to do that. ” she breathed , too surprised to say anything else. oh yes , her family was a bloody mess.
serena sighed once a car came to her ‘rescue’ and she stared at her uncle when he attempted to compel her. what the hell was wrong with him ? and how could he dash off like that ? the hybrid frowned while she got back into her car and started the engine , knowing very well where she’d be able to find damon. he was her father’s brother after all.
she parked her car and walked straight up to him , shaking her head in a mix of annoyance and amusement. “ really , damon ? and they all say that you’re the smarter salvatore these days. i guess they’re wrong. ”
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Damon should’ve known that the women he’d shortly encountered was his niece but truth be told, family wasn’t his strong suit. Anyone who knew the dark haired male couldn’t contest to that, heck anyone who didn’t even know him could agree. And yet, what everyone could agree on was his wacky sense of love towards his brother. When no luck became of a quick meal on the road, Damon went to his favourite location within the boarding house, the liquor cabinet. In the midst of pouring himself a fiery concoction a revved engine could be heard cutting short outside his front door. Merely thinking it was his younger brother Damon made no means of moving as he groaned in sweet satisfaction as he raised his glass to his lips and downing with liquid friend.
But despite, Damon couldn’t surely be blamed for not recognizing his own niece as unlike him, she was ever changing. In a blink of an eye she grew from the 2 year old he’d met only a few times to seemingly a young women before him. His eyes moved over the half immortal before him with a tested squint to his eyes as she spoke similar to Stefan, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Truth be told Damon was on edge over his brother’s taste for the dark side currently “Let me guess, dear daughter has come to put her father on the straight and narrow“ he said with a low mock to his tone “Serena right? You grew a few inches“ lowering his glass to pour himself yet another bourbon.
