Why are you here ? I don't have much to say.

Well, this is not quite the truth... I do in fact have a lot of things I could speak about, but nothing that I am willing to share. @captain-glucose already mentionned the comic about his missions as a Hero. I guess you'll see me as well, I'm always by his side. Don't you dare call me a hero, I am nothing close to it. Barely a sidekick, not worth mentionning. You can just call me Rubisco Boy. Don't expect me to talk much.

Daily life

Have a casual Rubisco Boy, slightly pissed. I found out that drawings OCs was the best way for me to train drawing, but this one is a bit old now, I drew it on March 26th 2021 !

Physical description

Rubisco Boy seems small as he is always near the massive @captain-glucose, but he is in fact tall as well, mesuring 1m84. He is also very well built, with thick muscles. There are actually two reasons to justify his buffness :

-His metal arm was designed pretty thick, and if he wants to stay symmetrical, he needs to workout a lot.

-We realised something with the GM that also justifies this design, but it's still a secret.

Apart from these, two elements strike people about Rubisco Boy : the bright green lines tattooed across his face ans all over his body, and the metallic prosthetic replacing his left arm. As for Bucky in Captain America, the prosthetic is a full metallic arm, very solid and capable of reproducing any mouvements his other arm does. However, the touch sense is completely absent. It did take Rubisco a while to learn how much pressure to apply to grab things without breaking them with it for example. Moreover, the sensations are difficult for him to get, in particular the temperatures (and it is not rare for him to burn himself because sometimes, he forgets that he lacks senses in his metallic fingers).

His eyes are a very unusually bright green, and his hair are dark brown, long to his claviculs. He usually keeps them tied in a low ponytail, although he has a high half-ponytail during his missions to avoid getting them in his eyes. Practical first, although cutting them short would be the most confortable, but it seems that he is letting them grow.

Apart from this, Rubisco Boy has a rockabilly style, wearing combat boots, jeans, plain white t-shirt and a thick leather jacket. However, during missions, he wears... Nothing. Well, almost nothing apart from his boots and underwear. He just undresses at the begining of missions, nobody knows why he does that, but Captain Glucose doesn't seem surprised, so everyone acknowleged that it was normal for him to do so. They all got used to it.

The truth is, he had issues with the cops because of that behavior, they labelled him as a "tattooes exhibitionnist" (yes, it is in his character sheet), although Rubisco always contests that he isn't fully naked.

Also it is canon that he has a big D.

Heroes in Z-Heroes

Rubisco Boy has a few companions, here are the heroes he met on his first mission (Scenario 1 : Dawn of the Heroic Age) and his thoughts on them :

@captain-glucose is my oldest and closest friend, for who I would do anything. To be honest, it was his idea to become a superhero, I just agreed to help him. He has a pure heart, I've never seen anyone as good as him, and I will protect him at any cost. He is not very smart, and knows it, so he rellies on me for anything complex to think about. As for his strength, it's beyond human, but it will never change the core of his heart. If goodness had a face, it would look like Captain Glucose...

Funky Man is the Herald of Disco music, chosen by a music God himself from what I understood. His powers are unexpected, but useful in combat to distract opponents. He is a very unique type of guy, I guess he is Funky to the core. Nevertheless, he is a good man, cheerful most of the time. He's got a thing with people, they listen to him, I guess he just knows how to reach out to others.

Gate Lord is only a teen, but for his age, he beholds impressive powers. He can open magical portals to move through space, or even to another dimension, althought the "White Area" is still a mystery to us all. Of course, he's just a kid, but he deserves support. He's really trying his best, and if sometimes he can be very immature, he is still willing to help make the world a better place. He has a lot of potential.

Sadoman is the twisted guy of the group at first glance. A real BDSM guy, all in leather with a twisted smirk, and he can use the injuries he receives to hit his opponents harder. Also, his tits are unusual. A good contact fighter, but beneath the obsessed character, there's actually a very sane man, with a good mindset. I guess Sadoman is more a role he plays than his whole personnality, as opposed to Funky Man.

Scarlet Scarf has a subtle power : he manipulates fabric. But that guy is the real freak, with insecurites he tries to hide with ego. A very narcissic guy, I've never seen anyone so obsessed with themselves. Yet, something darker crawls underneath the funny guy in a pink tight costume. I doubt that he is as good as the others, and I'd rather keep an eye on him...

Wild Orchestra is a woman that grew up in the forrest. And she is... Lost. All the time. She's not familiar with the city, or society in general, although she isn't necessarily shy. She's a nice person, but not very clever, mostly because there are plenty of things that are simply new to her. On the other had, she is very strong, and a good fighter. In a way, she reminds me of Captain.

Kiki is the great mistery. That Komodo dragon is supposed to be a wild specie from the komodo island, yet there it is, adopted by our local hermit in the forrest. I don't know where she found him, maybe he escaped from poachers ? Anyway, it's her baby pet, but beware, he still bites !

Sniper

In Z-Heroes, Rubisco Boy is @captain-glucose's sidekick, but as his friend told the group, he is an excellent sniper. He has an excellent perception, and a very specific rifle. Since he is only the sidekick, no one really paid attention to what he would shoot, but he proved his skill in several scenarios (hopefully, I will draw them as well !). In Champions TTRPG, our heroes are forbidden to kill, thus, Rubisco uses specific ammunitions to fight.

I will detail his equipment, he did get a few more weapons throughout the scenarios... Although a few of them were taken from him for... Reasons.

There is this song I am a bit obsessed with : Stabbing in the Dark by Ice Nine Kills, and it kind of reminded me of these two, mostly @captain-glucose-sidekick Rubisco Boy, but that line is completely @adelaide-lanshasaa : " There's life in the shadows". I had a very cool image in mind (well, more like a full video but I can't do that), and I need this out. So I quickly doodled this, it's messy but at least it was out of my brain XD Although it could be a very cool artwork if I could take the time to work it out properly !

Of course, this is also a song for @tony-redrum and @hellwen-ward, the stabbing masters !

Z-Heroes is also on Instagram (that's where I actually post the most). However, the page is in French... It's @z.heroes.bd. Translating this all is quite hard, I have to earase the speech bubbles and type the translated text as well as make sure that it fits into it ! Working through computers is so unconfortable to me, I'm a crayon-paper type of person, I would be so much more efficient if I could work the same way I do for the French version !

Anyway, if you do read it, please let me know, it will actually motivate me to translate the rest of the comic !

Hero Forge

This website is very nice, and can help to design a character. I can draw, so I actually created Rubisco Boy for the fun of it, and I was pleasantly surprised to have a result so close to his actual design ! It migh be useful to draw some angles too I presume, although I haven't tried yet.

The prostetic is a bit innacurate, since his shoulder is supposed to be missing as well, and the green tattoos are different, but I like how this still looks like him a lot ! Also, here, I think his expression is working well.

And yes, I was delighted to find the male undercloth !

Happy New Year !

I didn't show the watercolored verison yet, it took me a few more hours. I'm hapy about how it turned out ! All these characters that I played this year did a few things that are worth detailing, although I did mention it quickly on the uncolored version.

I added their names for those who aren't familiar with them yet ! They all have a dedicated blog with info about them, other artworks and their story !

P'tit Louis' shirt is a reference to the last scenario of his campaign, and the writting in the green pin is a phrase that Paul (one of his companions) said at a very important moment and it was hilarious. The pink pin is a joke from the last scenario we played in Nephilim this year (a French pun). I will also explain why he has a gold ring. I added his fangs, a new metamorphosis he gained at the end of the campaign. @ptit-louis

Tony is very happy, he's holding a lemur's tail, a reference to Keric le Zemmur, an ennemy he killed (and probably traumatized, Keric is certainly in hell, haunted forever by the Sram's grim smile, the last vision he had in his life, and the phrase "I told you that your soul would never have peace"). He is proud ! Also, the villain's name is a pun regarding a French politician. @tony-redrum

Noria is just chilling with her pet frog, Sergent Uc!, she started Hogwards school this year and is delighted to discover that magicx is real, she has so many things to discover ! @noria-helveticus

Lorelei looks chill here, I actually created her design for this drawing, so I'm happy. She started her campaign, the Ennemi Within, and due to her cult, she must keep herself serious. But open your eyes, the short priestress of Morr holds her flail, a weapon that has already proven her skill as a warrior. @lorelei-versengold

Morrigan is just happy, she's just naturally optimistic ! He played 3 scenarios this year already, although he suffered a lot already. She has a good heart, and fighting demon isn't always easy. @morrigan-sahar

Sal'aäd is on vacation. He finally got out of a dungeon, and honestly, it didn't go well for him. Just look in his eyes... He's dead inside. He did get a souvenir from the dungeon though. @salaad-dronnoc

Adélaïde finally began her campaign with my main group... As an NPC, since I'm the DM. SHe put her deer skull down, it's a bit heavy after all ! Although she still wears other smaller skulls in her hair, weird fetish. She's summonning small bbutterfly illusions, they are quite pretty after all. @adelaide-lanshasaa

As for Captain Glucose and his sidekick... They played two one-shots, one where they acquired their new costumes for Scarlet Scarf (Oh, spoiler... Sorry), and the second one where they finally took care of a very sus dude from scenario 3, MLP (Mother Lifting Po*n... Yes, that was his nickname. You see the sus part now ?). They did well on both, although they were quite easy... Our GM is preparing a capaign for them called "No More Heores" and I'm terrifyed. @captain-glucose @captain-glucose-sidekick

Why is he called like this ?

Rubisco Boy is only a sidekick name of course. I choose to call him "boy" instead of "man" bevause the running gag about him is that he doesn't really matters or counts as he is only "the sidekick". You can see it with the URL of his blog that I chose to name "@captain-glucose-sidekick" instead of "@rubisco-boy". In the comic, the joke is also there, when we see him on a panel, there are often objects in front of him or a bad angle, or he fits oddly in the case... It's a joke among us players, but we all know how important the sidekick actually is ! He's one of the most active and useful elements of the team, because he actually has the highest intelligence stat. Yes, this is true. The sidekick is smarter then all the heroes.

But the joke keeps running, and the sidekick is called "Boy" because it's fun !

I can't actually explain why Rubisco, because it would be a major spoil (but it has been revealed in the game, in on of our last scenarios).

In his point of view, I think he picked "Boy" himself, because he didn't want to bee as important as heroes. Rubisco Boy sees himself as only a sidekick, and doesn't want to be called hero, or considered on the same level as the others. There are reasons for this, but again, no spoils. Although... One of our latest sessions did have a note on this.

September 2017, a friend talks about Champions, a superhero ttrpg he found and is reading. I had recently discovered the Marvel movies, and I remember the lunch where I talked with him and another player, creating @captain-glucose and his sidekick Rubisco Boy based on Captain America and Bucky. I drew this a long while back, somewhere in december 2019, so there are a few messed up details, but anyway ! Merry Christmas to all that celebrate it from the sweetest character I have created !

What is "Z-Heroes"?

October 2017, we played our first Champions scenario. We had a great evening, and laughed a lot, so much in fact that we talked about turning it into a comic series to share with TTRPG fans !

I finally started the project in 2019, and on December 31st 2021, I finished drawing the last panel of the scenario. I have now started drawing the second scenario, although we already played somewhere around ten more games. I am late, but it's quite a long work and only a hobby, so I work on it whenever I feel like it.

Z-Heroes is of course the title of the comic, because in ttrpg, you are only one roll away from being a zero, even when you're a Hero !

The comic can be found for free online, it's a project we do for the pleasure of doing it ! Although, if you go and read it, I would love to have a comeback for you, it feels highly motivating to hear that someone reads and like the work I do !

@captain-glucose and @captain-glucose-sidekick are the two characters that I play, I hope you will enjoy them !

Unfortunately, the sidekick's backstory is classified. The truth shall be unveiled one day, if you are patient enough.

Rubisco Boy is tall, very smart, and can send his opponents to sleep in a single shot. He would kill without hesitation to protect Captain Glucose. He isn't very joyfull and quite impatient. He always carries his rifle, that he connects to his metal arm prostethic with a tube. Unlike his companions, he refuses to be called a Hero, being only Captain Glucose's sidekick.
