Mini Warehouse Sale

My friend reposted an advertisement of National Bookstore on Facebook regarding warehouse sales in their different branches outside the metro. I missed the big warehouse sale they had last month in Manila that’s why I’m glad when I saw that a branch here in Batangas (Bay City Mall) is holding one. I told myself I wouldn’t be going to this year’s MIBF so seeing NBS’ ad made me think that this could be a sign that I should swing by to this warehouse sale.

Before going there, I told myself to not expect too much as I believe the space allotted for the books on sale will just be limited. When I arrived, I was right. I believe there were just 4 small bookcases but nonetheless, I found myself rummaging through the books and getting my hands dusty for almost an hour. 

I’m on a tight budget so I didn’t pick a book which costs more than P50. There were moments when I found myself thinking if I should go buy a certain book or not, but most of I time I picked them up and carried them around. I was about to meet a friend and 10 minutes before we met, I guess I’ve had enough books to hoard. I know I wouldn’t really be able to read these due to boards review but  I still bought them anyway, for postboards or in between reading.

In summary, I got 7 books for a total of P220 or roughly $4.73!!

And that kids is how you get books in a warehouse sale.

Finally got Disqus running on my blog!

I only have a few days left here at home before I go back to MNL for boards review. As much as I wanted to go back to MNL weeks ago, I’m starting to feel sepanx right now. I will be missing again the comforts of home and especially my room. I wish I could spend more time here at home but I have to be productive and be serious with the review for a brighter future and to reach my goals.

Spontaneous Afternoon

Since it’s going to be my last weekend in the city, my best friend and I have been planning to bond for a week already but we just don’t know where to go. This will always be a problem since there indeed is a lack of go-to places in Batangas City.

We’ve settled to the fact that we’ll just spend our afternoon roaming around a local mall and maybe share life talks over food. Hours before we met up, she said that she’s coordinating with her aunt and brother if we can go to Tagaytay.

As I’m always game for anything, I agreed with the plan and before we knew it, we’re on our way to Tagaytay!

Tagaytay is known for its cool weather and an easy alternative to Baguio for time constraints.

We reached Maryridge  Retreat House at around 4:30PM. It was drizzling and the air was crisp cool. I didn’t know that the place has an amazing view of the Taal Volcano. The view, I must say, is better compared to what’s seen from Josephine’s or Taal Vista Hotel. It’s even better when one is at the chapel. Too bad I wasn’t able to take a photo from up there.

We used to go to this place to buy ube delicacies and halo-halo. The last time I’ve been here was around June 2014. It’s only today that I’ve known that they relocated the delicacies and snacks shop nearer the road to Manila.

We visited their aunt who is a nun and fetched the assistant principal from our alma mater.

We shared some baked macaroni, which I must say was one of the best I’ve ever tasted, pancit, and cookies, coupled with a cool glass of rightly-tinged lemon juice.

The dining area at the retreat house reminded me of our visits in St. Francis Major Seminary in Marawoy, Lipa City.

We attended the anticipated mass at 5:30PM before heading home.

Our visit has been such a great breather for me. Spontaneous trips will always be more memorable and fun!

And even on your darkest days; remember this- it can only last for 24 hours. Even if it seems like it will never end, it has to in 24 hours. The trick of getting through it is taking it in 10’s. Do you think you can take it for the next 10 seconds? Let’s try: 1…..2…..3….4….5…..6….7….8…9….10. There you survived for for 10 seconds. Now start over, take it 10 seconds at a time again.

I signed up for a Signature Track class on Coursera and we’re on week 4 already! Being on Signature Track costs $49 BUT one can apply for financial aid, and I did.

By taking a course on this track means that I can put it up on my CV and LinkedIn (which I haven’t even signed up for).

Who here has been on a Signature Track on Coursera as well?

I can somehow relate to it in terms of living abroad and thinking always about family. I guess I’ll be wearing those shoes in a few years.

Glad that I was able to accomplish this form. My writing skills have been rusty but I did my best to say what I had to say. If I’ll be picked, I hope I could do a lot with regards to health policies here in the Philippines.
